Arses, not sure I like my skirt

Knownowt, 20 May, 2009 at 22:25 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

I've just bought a suit made up of this jacket http://www.jigsaw-online.com/productdetails.aspx?id=1000167&itemno=J08729 and this skirt http://www.jigsaw-online.com/productdetails.aspx?id=1000167&itemno=J08865&colour=BK000 I am now fretting because the skirt cuts me off mid-calf (and I have short calves anyway) and I think I look a bit stumpy. Will a normal pencil skirt be better http://www.jigsaw-online.com/productdetails.aspx?id=1000167&itemno=J08678&colour=BK000 ? Obv hard to say when you can't see me. I am 5'7" with short legs/long body.

It's a no from me, KN, sorry. Mid-calf skirts are for women so thin they don't want their knees on display.

I am a similar body, same height and long body etc. I would go for the skirt that you have bought, because I totally hate my legs and want as much of them covered as possible, and I like the shape of that skirt - plus, with the little fitted jacket nipping your waist in, that is where other people's eyes will be drawn. But, if you have nice shaped legs then go for the other skirt that will show them off more, with as high heels as you can manage.

Not that I am exactly the fashion police, so please feel free to ignore what i say (I have lots of Jigsaw stuff though, I love that place).

Hmmm, one vote either way. Shall go back and try the other skirt and switch if it's better. Appeal of longer skirt is that I can walk with longer strides- I hate teetering along in pencil skirts. Calf-length skirt is definitely giving me tree trunk legs though.

It'd be a no from me for mid-calf length skirt. I don't think they look flattering on many people so would probably go for the knee length one.

Even Margaret from The Apprentice wears knee-length skirts. There's conservative, and then there's looking like you've taken holy orders ?

Also, I like the golden rule that skirts should end at a small part of your leg. No one's mid-calf is smaller than the surrounding bits.

As a fellow shortleg/long body, it's a no. Might be rescuable by a pair of killer heels?

WSS. The pencil skirt will be way more flattering for your body shape I think.

You will all be fascinated to learn that I switched it for a grey chalk stripe suit with pencil skirt- much nicer and also in the sale so £96 refund. Yay!
