got about 4 stone to shift because i get hitched a year from today

terribear, 24 August, 2012 at 10:26 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 4

So i just joined the gym and i'm going to an aqua aerobics class today to kick start my weight loss good and proper, because i've lost 6 1/2 pounds in about 8 months! (it is mainly extra weight post baby, but then i got engaged in june after nearly 14 years together!) i havent exercised in over 2 years but i used to do classes at least 5 times a week and got slim and toned, so im looking forward to being like that again! i have a target weight in mind for the day and if i aim for a 1 pound weight loss a week i will be there for my wedding day, i am currently 1/2 a pound behind target but i think this is an acheivable target, what does everyone else think? I also go to weightwatchers but will be sticking to it from now on, if anyone wants to chat or anything then i'm here! quite new to this site so bear with me

? Terri

I think its definitely achievable, especially broken down into 1 pound 'chunks'- doing 5 classes a week as well as sensible dieting should do the trick- have you considered doing a 'Body Pump' class? its a good idea to do some weights at least once a week, as toned muscle boosts your bodies metabolism and burns more calories- the best of luck!

Hey, funnily enough i booked a body pump class that day, and i did it yesterday.....omg wow do i hurt today! it was a fab class though, and i'm going to hurt even more tomorrow because i did a step class this morning too. no pain no gain eh?! i'm going to the seaside for a week now though so will be doing plenty of walking and i'm gonna stay away from the burger stalls on the front (which shouldn't be too hard seeing as i don't like burgers, but its the chips lol ) i will mainly be eating out but will pick sensible choices from the menus. i lost 2 and a half pound this week so i'm a pound in front of my target now, so all is going good so far!

    Hi terribear

    Congratulations on your forthcoming nuptials.

You've set yourself a realistic goal so it is definitely achievable. I have read on here that people want to lose, in the words or Peter Kay, fourteen stone in a day. Well, not quite but it feels that way.

A really good way to lose weight is hill walking. It can be done outdoors or in the gym. Believe it or nor half an hour on a steep incline in the gym on a power walk pace burns more calories than running for half an hour. It is also easier on the joints and once you've got your balance and rhythm sorted you can read a book at the same time,

Im not sure if the gym would be possible for you having a young one but outdoors.works just as well. You just have to make sure you pick hilly areas, I prefer the gym as I can see my speed etc, out in the real world I tend to cheat and go easy on myself ?

You can take the pram with you - which can double up to carry water, mobile, purse etc (in case you want a taxi home lol).

I also have an unflattering photo of my stuck up on the fridge and snack cupboard, it doesn't always stop me scoffing but it helps.

You sound like you're really focused on this so I think it will be a walk in the park, pardon the pun, for you.

    xx

Its definitly achievable, if you keep up your exercise and diet plan you will be back to your old self agin Smiley smile

As a bit of advice I would say, don't focus on the number of pounds you loose each week. Focus on "I must run 3 times this week". If you do the exerise you will loose the weigh. Just weigh yourself once a month and compare it with your weigh 3 months before (this will give you a more accurate reading).

I used to find it hard to keep to my plan when I was working 9-5. What I started doing was to order a spicy prawns or lemon chicken takeaway(something meaty but no sauce) and then going for a run and having it waiting for me when I got home. if you want to order it online here is a link to London takeaways.

Keep it up ... you can do it ?
