It is with a mixture of extreme excitement and a twinge of sadness that I announce that this will be our last summer… I am retiring to grow flowers in my garden, continue refurbishing our new home and looking after my family…
It has been a wonderful 21 years, as the owner of such a lovely bridal boutique, but I have taken the decision to slowly close the doors at White Lace and Promises, making sure all our Brides are happy, and waved off with their dream dresses in their arms, to enjoy the best wedding day ever. But this will absolutely be our very last bridal season with you all.
For everyone who has ordered a gown from us that hasn’t yet arrived, your dresses are all on track and we will not be closing our doors until you have all received them, been in to try them on with us and are happy. You are our priority.
Our plan is to stop taking orders now to ensure all gowns will be in before we close and then to throw the best and biggest closing down sale you have ever witnessed!
We’ve always done a good sale, but this will be the Mother! Watch our socials for details.
I cannot thank our Brides enough for supporting us over the last two decades. It has meant the absolute world to us that you bought from us, became #teamwlpbrides and especially to those who came back with their besties and sisters for them to become #teamwlpbrides too! We love you all! Phone calls and emails have gone out to all of our current Brides, please check your junk mail folder if you haven’t received it.
I’d like to thank all my Team WLP consultants from over the years, with a special mention to Claire Talbot, who will be with me until our very last day and has been the best work wife I could of ever have! I thank you from the bottom of my heart and will miss you. This business was never mine, it was always ours.
To Celia, our little sewing fairy, I know you will keep sprinkling your fairy dust on Brides dresses for many years to come, so I thank you for being part of my team and wish you happiness for the future.
To Hannah O, Hannah B, Shauna, Clare, Danni, Penny, Mandy, Hayley, and Angie and to Amiee who trained me all those years ago. You all taught me something, you all held me up and you all loved our Brides as much as I do. I am in awe of you all. Thank you. I asked a lot of you all and you all just gave, selflessly, thank you from the bottom of my heart, you will all, always be my girls…

Best wedding dress shopping experience I could have had
Following my booking, I exchanged several emails with Shauna who asked lots of questions about how we got engaged and what styles I might be interested in. The process (first appointment right through to collection day) was also clearly explained to me. It was lovely to have the option to add drinks on to the booking.
On the day of the appointment I was greeted by Jacqui herself, and made to feel special from the start, with signs already out to welcome me personally. The team at WLP did an excellent job at accommodating my rather large entourage. I was introduced to my consultant Claire who encouraged me to look through the rails and pull out 4-5 dresses to try on first, then we’d go from there. I was quick at changing so was able to try on so many beautiful dresses during my appointment (9/10) but I kept coming back to two that I had tried in my initial selection. I was given time to revisit these and spend some time in each to get a real feel for them and to test walking and sitting. Claire stepped away to give me and my group privacy at this stage.
I said yes to a strapless, sparkly Maggie Sottero with a slit and pockets! It was princessy, timeless and yet modern all at once. The slit helped me to regulate my temperature mid-August and added a fun element - particularly on the dance floor. The pockets were a surprise to all (also a subtle nod to Doctor Who) and gave me somewhere to put my awkward hands for pictures! I’ve not seen anyone else with a dress quite like this, which makes mine feel special.
After saying yes, we celebrated with a popper and Polaroid. I was given a lucky sixpence and was sent a postcard about a week later welcoming me to the WLP club. The best wedding dress shopping experience I could have had, and I felt so confident in my dress on the day - it definitely had the wow factor ✨

Was made to feel very comfortable and have been back a few times to try on and each time I have had the same experience.
In fact I'm sad that I'm not due to go back until January now, a very long 7 months to wait.
I went back in the sale to get some jewellery with my mum and got the most beautiful accessories for incredible prices.

Best bridal boutique I’ve visited
The cocktails were incredible and the room is beautiful. White lace and promises have truly thought of everything to make you feel special.
From my first appointment to my second with lots of loan dresses being ordered in for me to try, Shauna really went above and beyond the service I expected to find me my perfect dress. She’s so good at what she does she knew what I was thinking before I even said it.
After visiting a few bridal boutiques in Bristol and surrounding areas this was definitely the best experience.
The celebration of “saying yes to the dress” is so thoughtful and such a lovely keepsake.

I wasn't hopeful about finding a dress I loved, but the team listened carefully to my vision and went the extra mile by ordering in specific styles for me to try. The boutique itself is stunning, with a beautiful selection of gowns to suit every taste.
From the moment I arrived, I felt special thanks to thoughtful touches like a welcome sign and treats. Their communication was excellent, and they were happy to accommodate additional fitting appointments.
