We are a multi-award winning wedding cake company who delight in creating beautiful, delicious cakes for our couples. We won The Couples Choice Award at the English Wedding Awards 2024 and received Hitched Wedding Awards for 2024, 2023 and 2022 for our cakes.
Based in Farnham, Dorset, we create delicious and elegant, sweet and savoury luxury wedding cakes for clients across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and often beyond. Whether you want piped floral sweet or savoury cupcakes, multi-tiered fondant, buttercream or ganache covered cakes, semi-naked designs in sweet or savoury flavours, we are delighted to oblige. We also specialise in sugar flowers and make macarons, cookies, fancies and all sorts of edible treats.
Cocoa & Whey Cakes is very much flavour led, with an accent on fine ingredients, creativity and really bespoke attention to detail on taste, both culinary and in design details. It's a real joy and privilege to be part of such a very important and happy day and we take our brief extremely seriously.

Company owner and cake designer Penelope Hurst believes that quality of ingredients and taste are most important, but wedding cakes should look stunning and elegant too.
Services Offered
Cocoa & Whey Cakes offer a wide range of sweet and savoury cake flavours so ask us for a Menu. Sweet options include vanilla and malt; raspberry and champagne; lemon and elderflower and mocha fudge and Baileys to name but a few. Savoury options include walnut, apple, and cheddar cake, and many more. An array of savoury shortbreads, cakepops, and muffins can also be created. Cocoa & Whey Cakes also create beautiful cookies, macarons, cupcakes, truffles, and more to create a delightful dessert table for your celebration.

How much notice do I need to give you?
We get booked well in advance, particularly during spring and summer months. We recommend you contact us as early as you can to avoid disappointment
Do you deliver?
Yes, delivery charged at 50p per mile per round trip. Please contact us for a quote
Do you hire cake stands?
Yes
How many tiers can my cake be?
We can make multiple tiered cakes including 6 and 7 tiers. However, you also have the option of slightly fewer tiers and extra cutting cakes. It really depends on the look you are after and budget
How many flavours can I have on my cake?
You can have a different flavour in each tier if you want. You can also have a sweet wedding cake combined with savoury cupcakes or even sweet and savoury combination tiers. Ask us for details
What are the forms of payment?
We accept bank transfer, cheques and cash at present
What areas do you cover?
We can deliver and set up your wedding cake in venues across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and parts of Somerset, Surrey and Berkshire. Delivery and set up are a vital part of the service we provide

Perfect!!!
Penelope was such a professional from our very first contact. She was so warm and friendly and went out of her way to listen to our ideas and develop them with us, alongside us. Her communication was excellent, not just with ourselves but also with our venue and other supplies such as the florist. We felt totally confident in her at every stage of planning. The sample cakes were amazing, and we were totally spoilt for choice. The standard of our wedding cake was second to none. All of our guests commented not on just how beautiful it looked but also how amazing the flavours were. We would recommend Cocoa and Whey to anyone looking for the wedding cake of their dreams and we will always remember Penelope for her kindness, her creativity and her professionalism.

Amazing wedding cake
Penelope created the cake for our wedding day. From the first time we spoke, she completely understood our vision for the cake and this shone through in the sketches she provided for us. The cake itself was perfectly set up, and Penelope worked with our florist to create a wreath of foliage and forget-me-nots for the cake to stand on. It was simple and elegant, exactly as we imagined, and absolutely delicious. We’d recommend Penelope to anyone looking for a cake maker for their wedding.

Cocoa & Whey Cakes
Penelope listened carefully and understood the vision/design. Provided samples to taste and drew up sketches to help visualise the look. Beautiful and elegant 4 tier cake along with 2 gluten free cupcakes. All our wedding guests loved the wedding cake and complimented on how it kept moist throughout a sunny and warm day.

Beautiful wedding cake
Helpful, professional and amazing quality. Nothing was too much trouble and Penelope went through everything in great details to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. The taste was amazing and lots of compliments from our guests. Would highly recommend.

Best wedding cake ever!
Penelope was absolutely amazing - she listened to what we wanted and honestly exceeded all our hopes and dreams with our wedding cake.

The cake of dreams!
Cocoa and Whey made the most delicious wedding cake for my wedding on 10 June. With just over a month to go before the wedding, Penelope helped me navigate design, flavour selection to putting all the finer details into place. She made the process incredibly smooth and was a really fantastic supplier to work with. I had so many friends and family rave about the flavour of the wedding cake (chocolate / white chocolate and passionfruit) which made it a standout of the wedding day. Thank you so much Cocoa and Whey for helping make my wedding day so special - highly recommend for weddings.

The best wedding cake
Penelope created the most perfect cake for our wedding day. She took the time to listen to our needs to make sure the cake was everything we wanted. What really made the cake special to us was that Penelope kindly created a sugared figurine of our dog to go on the cake as well, I was amazed at how realistic it looked! Every tier of the cake was a different flavour and each one was absolutely delicious - safe to say there wasn’t very much left by the end of the night! I can’t recommend Cocoa & Whey cakes enough! Perfect wedding cake for our special day
We found Cocoa & Whey cakes through a local internet search and, after reading very positive reviews, we contacted Penelope. Penelope is such a lovely lady and she sent us some delightful samples to try. After trying these we instantly knew we were going to ask her to make our cake for our wedding in May 2022.
Penelope set up an online chat and after a friendly consultation we agreed the number of tiers, size of cake for our event, the flavours, and the style we desired. A few days later Penelope sent through a sketch of the design.
On the day Penelope set up our cake and upon seeing it we were over the moon. It was absolutely stunning and the cake was everything we hoped for and more. The flavours of each tier were White Chocolate & Passionfruit, Raspberry & Champagne, and Lemon & Elderflower. They did not disappoint, and all our guests commented on how amazing the cake was. Thank you so much Penelope, we can’t recommend you highly enough!

Lovely wedding cake
Absolutely lovely wedding cake from Cocoa & Whey Cakes - Penelope captured the delicate nature that I wanted for our wedding cake and it was really beautiful to see the intricate detail she had provided with the tiny flowers and birds on the cake. She is very professional and approachable. She arranged some zoom chats to talk about the cake and discuss our ideas (with Covid still in mind) and really importantly she listened and understood my thoughts and ideas whilst using her experience to make suggestions of how she could design and make the cake. We had lovely flavours to chose from and the cake on the day was enjoyed by all of us.

Most delicious cake ever!
Working with Penelope was a dream. She sent us the most delicious taster box (that we probably ate a bit too quickly!) and we ultimately landed on two wonderful flavours. Penelope was super flexible throughout the entire process. The cake itself was beautiful and we got so many compliments on the day.

Perfectly wonderful
We booked Penelope for our wedding in September 2021 having met her at many fayres in Winchester, and falling in love with her cakes. Penelope was a delight to work with throughout the whole process, and was wonderful in pulling together our thoughts and ideas. We knew that the final product would be lovely, but it was much more beautiful in person than we thought! All our guests marvelled over it, especially the figures of our cats(!), and everyone commented on how delicious the different layers were. Thank you Penelope for everything. We couldn’t recommend Cocoa and Whey more.

Gorgeous wedding cake and fantastic service
We hired Penelope of Cocoa & Whey to make our wedding cake for our wedding in August 2021. Throughout the process Penelope was wonderful to work with. We started by ordering a box of 6 samples, which were delivered to our home. The cakes were delicious. We then had a design meeting with Penelope to discuss what we wanted our cake to look like and the flavours we liked best. She had lots of lovely thoughts and ideas and was so helpful. We also had a few vegan guests, and Penelope was able to make us some special vegan cupcakes in addition to our main cake, so that all of our guests were catered for. She also sent across a lovely design of the main cake which she had put together so we could make sure it looked exactly how we wanted. I cannot recommend Penelope and Cocoa & Whey highly enough.

Wedding Cake
We reached out to Penelope to make our starry night wedding cake and we are so happy we did. So many of our guests told us it was the best wedding cake they had seen and tasted! We both couldn't agree more, the flavour was amazing and looked so gorgeous with our theme. If you sample Penelope's cakes you are bound to fall in love with the flavour and want to hire her!
