She spent time with us, got to know our story and had a great sense of what would or wouldn’t work for the ceremony. Coming from different, but rich cultural backgrounds, we didn’t want to do anything pastiche – Gitte helped us develop a ceremony and made some beautiful suggestions based on our conversations. She gave us some great ideas and options to consider, which were all super helpful. So many of the comments we received were about how personal and unique our ceremony was, which was of course all down to Gitte.

Her process and clear communication throughout helped us feel at ease on the day and meant everything ran smoothly. Even though it was her birthday she turned up early to coordinate with other suppliers and those involved in elements of the ceremony.

Hiring Gitte to be our wedding celebrant was one of the best decisions we made!

Initially, we had planned to ask a friend to officiate our ceremony, but soon we realised that the ceremony was what we were the most stressed about because of how important it was for us to get it right and make it meaningful. So we decided to turn to a professional.

The next challenge was finding someone who shared similar values to ours and who would therefore hold our hand as we created a ceremony that aligned with these values. It was particularly important for us that we found a celebrant who was inclusive and mindful of the various kinds of guests who would be coming to the wedding.

When we came across Gitte's profile we immediately knew she was the right person: an inclusive, fun, queer-affirming, feminist celebrant with a passion for social justice, a love of nature and animals and a knack for languages. As a Spanish-French couple with a diversity of guests from multiple countries and having a woodland wedding, this was the perfect fit!

From the moment we reached out to Gitte, she was wonderful. We had a no-obligation call to get to know each other and we immediately loved her. The next step was filling out a thorough questionnaire to allow her to get to know our values better. A few months later she came to see us in our home and we went deeper into our love story and the structure of the ceremony, and she answered all of our questions with patience and wisdom. She also helped us decide on what kinds of rituals would best suit our ceremony.

When the script was ready she shared it with us and we were able to give her feedback and make tweaks. It was a completely customised script that she worked very hard on. She really went above and beyond to make it perfect.

As introverts, my husband and I were quite nervous about the ceremony, but thanks to Gitte's wonderful script, which brought a lot of lightheartedness and fun to it, we actually really enjoyed the ceremony and were able to savour the moment. Everyone commented on how beautiful the ceremony was, and there were lots of laughs. Gitte even incorporated words in multiple languages—she said a few words in French and Spanish for our families and even said 'Welcome' in every single language spoken by our guests!

Gitte really helped elevate our wedding ceremony and our day and to make it truly special, and we will always be incredibly grateful. I would highly recommend her as a celebrant to any other couples!

Aaah, we couldn’t praise Gitte highly enough! She’s a warm and wonderful person - the best starting point. She’s also a brilliant, sensitive celebrant.

With Gitte we got a ceremony that reflected us rather than follow convention for the sake of it. Gitte guided us by suggesting different elements that we would never have thought of ourselves, and gave us space to choose and adapt. We went for a “ring warming”, an inclusive ritual infused with the love of all our friends and family present. Ask Gitte if you’re intrigued!

The story Gitte told of us as a couple was joyous but not sentimental, with just the right amount of humour and drama. It was properly entertaining, and very “us”! Although we worked with Gitte on the script there were some lovely surprise elements. The whole ceremony was well structured, so we always felt in safe hands, but at the same time was relaxed and celebratory.

A family member commented that “usually at weddings you’re waiting for the service to end before the fun part begins, but with your wedding the service was part of the fun too.” High praise!
