About
Joyous, calm and relaxed.
I make wedding ceremonies for all kinds of couples who are not religous. This means you can get married in all kinds of places, in the way you want too. It means you get to celebrate who you are - as a couple, with all traits and character and the love you have for one another. There is no script to follow, only to create.
Perhaps you want to follow a tradition or break away completely? Every ceremony is different – I have led ceremonies in a tepee in a field, in a canal side warehouse, on a beach at sunset, where we drew a double spiral in the sand for the couple to wind their way towards each other. Wherever you choose whatever your ideas, we start with them, build on them, to make a ceremony perfectly right for you two.
Before I came across humanist weddings, I was not into marriage - I thought it had to follow a certain script. We planned our own ceremony from scratch, and it was wonderful. It gives you the opportunity to think; “ What does marriage means to me?” It allows you to put in the important words, small acts of great meaning, with your sense of humour.
This set me on a path which led to becoming a wedding celebrant, and I love what I do, alongside working in the arts.
Thinking about a wedding is a creative act. My approach is to encourage lots of ideas and make sure your voices are part of the creative process. I listen to what you want, hear your story and the ideas flow in response. Then I wrap it all up in the script, and support you right through to the day itself, when I am there making sure all goes well.
Several of my couples said that the ceremony was the best part of the day – I believe that it is the essence of the day and not just the formality – it gives you your first chance stand up and tell the world how much you mean to each other.
If this resonates, it would be lovely to chat.
