DO NOT USE THIS CELEBRANT.
The celebrant, Hazel, was extremely unprofessional and incompetent during the whole ceremony. She got both my mine and my husbands names wrong, the dogs name wrong and kept mispronouncing words and poems. Hazel felt it necessary to change the wording of our poems and interject with supposedly quirky and funny comments, however she did not achieve quirkiness nor humour. The whole ceremony was awkward and disjointed. Furthermore, she stuttered during the whole ceremony, only read off sheets of paper and kept losing where she was on the page. In addition to this, she misread the words on her bit of paper and said 'open up your arses' rather than 'hearts'. It appeared that she had never done this before, nor had she read any of our poems or our written love story.
Hazel did not know what she was doing, meaning my husband needed to whisper pointers to her, despite us giving her an exact order or the ceremony.
Hazel also turned up to our wedding in jogging bottoms, trainers and a random t shirt which was extremely inappropriate and made our whole wedding an absolute joke, to the point where the father of the bride needed to joke about her ceremony during his speech to try and reduce the awkwardness that she had caused.
Not only this, but she forgot to invite two witnesses and my husband and I to sign the certificate, to which she left empty on a table. At the end of the ceremony, she didn't know what to do and simply said 'yeah, that's it. We are finished' and very quickly left site. What an abomination!
Initially I was devastated and extremely upset at her inappropriate and disrespectful performance, however I had grown to laugh at the utter state of the ceremony; which our guests took to doing very quickly.
Our guests were quick to comment on the butchered performance with some saying 'God, that was sh*t' and 'her jogging bottoms really fitted the wedding vibe' (sarcasm).
Despite all of this, her wedding props were fantastic and she has some stunning faux flowers and wedding hoops. I would recommend Hazel for decorations alone; certainly not as a celebrant. She did give us a lovely gift at the end, but this does not compensate for the absolute car crash of a ceremony.
Please, please, please do not hire her if you want your wedding to be taken seriously. I feel she spoiled my day and I wouldn't want anyone else to feel as if they wasted thousands of pounds on a wedding for that to happen. I feel there is much more to say, but I'm lost for word at the events that unfolded.
Wedding was on the 07/09/2024, Cornwall. I hate giving negative reviews, but I don't want anyone else to experience this.
