Emily Harding, a.k.a. Yorkshire Violinist, is a wedding musician based in Huddersfield, in England's West Yorkshire region. This talented professional is an acoustic and electric events violinist trained in Huddersfield and The Royal Northern College of Music. She performs solo and as a member of several ensembles and orchestras (including Symphonic Ibiza), and most recently with the BBC as part of Sir Cliff Richard’s on-stage string orchestra in his 2022 Christmas Special on BBC2.
Services Offered
Emily Harding would be honoured to create the perfect soundtrack for any occasion surrounding your big day. She offers several packages that cater to a range of budgets and needs, including ceremony music only, drinks reception music, and coverage for the whole day. All wedding packages include:
- All equipment required for the day
- Initial telephone or email consultation and regular email communication until the day of the event
- Five-piece requests are included in the wedding ceremony, whether or not they appear on the published Repertoire List:
- Groom's choice (during the pre-ceremony guests’ welcome music)
- Entrance / Processional
- Signing the register (x2)
- Exit / Recessional
- Arrival one hour before start time to set up and soundcheck
- Use of my own PAT-certified equipment
- Insurance
- Woman-owned

How far in advance should I contact you?
With as much notice as possible, Emily can ensure you get the best service possible. A minimum of 2 weeks is appreciated and full balance will be required at this point

Is it possible to request something that's not in the repertoire?
Absolutely! Outside the five main ceremony songs, additional song requests (songs not on my repertoire list) are chargeable due to the extra practice time required, and obtaining materials
What's your experience?
Trained at The University of Huddersfield and the Royal Northern College of Music, Emily performs across the UK as solo violinist, in various string quartets and ensembles, including Symphonic Ibiza
Do you have your own equipment?
Yes
Do you need specific materials or conditions to offer your service?
Yes, - Adequate space to perform is required.
- Connection to mains electricity a bonus, but not essential.
- For outdoor events, please provide suitable cover for performer due to weather changes
Can you travel?
Yes, uK-wide excluding Northern Ireland
Is there a charge for travelling?
Yes, £0.55 per mile of the return journey. Discussion is possible where absolutely necessary
Do you cover more than one wedding a day?
No
Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?
Alone
What is the length of time of the act?
It depends on how long your ceremony is, and whether you would also like Emily to perform for your drinks reception and wedding breakfast. Set lengths are tailored to each couple's individual schedule
How much time do you need to prepare for an act?
Two weeks is appreciated. Contact Emily anyway, even if your event is within two weeks. Full balance will be required upon booking in these circumstances
Do you do open-air acts?

Do you charge per hour or per event?
Per event
If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?
Yes
How do you charge extra time?
£200 for each additional hour on top of existing booking / agreed event time. Included within this extra fee are all the features of the current booking for the additional performance time

Such a talent and pleasure to work with
Emily is such a fantastic person, planning our wedding wasn't easy but every single bit of communication with Emily put me at ease, it felt like I was speaking with one of my best friends, she is so friendly, approachable and professional.
I was lucky enough to see Emily perform on my hen do and she made the effort to come and meet me and it felt like I had known her years.
Our wedding ceremony was beautifully complimented by Emily's pure talent - we asked her to perform an upbeat Pitbull song for our exit and this was delivered so effortlessly and all our guests were raving about how great she was!

Not a dry eye during our ceremony
I reached out to Emily a year before our ceremony for an initial quote and I am SO glad we booked her. The wedding would not have been the same without her, there wasn’t a dry eye during our ceremony (she even had all the groomsmen crying). So easy to communicate with and would recommend her to anyone! Thank you so much Emily, you made it even more magical! X

Yorkshire Violinist
From the first time getting in touch with Emily she was always so helpful,professional and happy to advise/help with ideas for the music for our wedding. I couldn't decide on a couple of songs so she helped with this and provided us with a huge repertoire list which blew us away.
I loved the fact she let the groom choose a song just for him (Stone Roses - I wanna be adored) and that's the song I have remembered since just before my entrance. My twin boys have since listened to this track a lot!
I heard the music whilst I was getting ready in the bridal suite and the photographer and make up artist noted how amazing Emily sounded. My make up artist said it gave her goose bumps.
I can't honestly recommend the YV enough,such a lovely,approachable and hugely talented artist and Emily really gave our wedding the wow factor. If money was no object I would have hired her for the full day as we both could have happily listened all day.
Don't hesitate to book,you won't regret it.

Great communication and beautiful music
I met Emily at the Victoria Hall wedding fair around Christmas 2022. My fiancé had expressed how he wanted live music for our ceremony so I spent some time talking to Emily on the day to find out about the packages. Emily was great at getting back to me before booking with any questions I had and in the end we booked a Gold Trio package.
Together with Emily, we were able to create a beautiful, personalised ceremony playlist which combined my love of Taylor Swift with Ryan's love of Lord of the Rings, to our shared appreciation of Star Wars and Tarantino music.
I will never forget hearing the strings as I walked down the aisle, it was perfect.
Our guests loved the music and it provided a wonderful backdrop to our drinks reception. One of our youngest guests enjoyed the trio's performance of 'Baby Shark' just before the wedding breakfast which was so lovely to see.
Thank you to the string trio for creating such beautiful music for our day. We can't thank you enough.

Overwhelmingly beautiful
Where to start… Emily has been amazing from start to finish, communicating was prompt and easy. We booked Emily for ceremony and reception drinks; On the day, my now Husband was rather emotional when listening to Emily play whilst waiting for me to walk down the aisle, such a stunning choice in music had complimented our requests so well. During the reception drinks the sound of the violin was amazing, we had so many compliments from our guests as to how good the song choices were and how beautifully they were played. My only wish is that we could have stood and simply listened to you play, but in the wedding day business we simply didn’t get time. Overall just wanted to say a big thank you, you were honestly incredible, we are so grateful.

Emily is a very talented lady, she created such a magical atmosphere for our wedding ceremony in church.
All the guests commented on how beautiful she played. Emily communicated with me every step of the way,she even asked what colour the groomsmen and bridesmaids were so she could colour coordinate! I would definately recommend Emily if your wanting an extra special moment. Thankyou so much 💓

From start to finish Emily was amazing.......the second we heard her start playing the tears started to flow.....my daughter's walk in music was Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman......it was perfect.

I was a little nervous when I booked Emily to play at our wedding as I'd not heard her play before so it was a little bit of a gamble.
What can I say, the gamble really did pay off. Emily was extremely professional, not just on the day but in the lead up to the wedding aswell. She was in contact with me regularly and provided us with a huge playlist and even offered to play songs that weren't on the list. She even asked what the colour scheme was so she could dress for the occasion!
Emily is a really talented violinist and it went down really well at our wedding with many commenting on how lovely it was.
I would highly recommend her to anybody!
