Manor House String Quartet is a string quartet and string duo based near Leighton Buzzard on the borders of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire in the South East of England. Since being formed in 2006, the group has performed for over 800 weddings, parties, anniversaries and many other special occasions throughout the home counties, the South East of England, London, and the Midlands. These talented musicians delight in playing both classical and contemporary music at ceremonies, drink receptions and wedding breakfasts. Led by violinist Vaughan Jones, they create bespoke setlists based on each couple’s musical preferences. Whether you desire instrumental music from film soundtracks, ambient jazz, classical favourites, or modern hits, they will tailor their performances to reflect your wishes.

Service Offered

Soon-to-be-newlyweds can choose to have a string duo or a full-string quartet at different stages of their special day. Manor House String Quartet will collaborate with you to determine what your ideal duo combination is, including violin and viola or violin and cello. These professional musicians are happy to perform at formal church weddings, outdoor ceremonies, garden parties, and more. With over 50 hours' worth of music in their repertoire, Manor House Music can help make your special day truly unique!

What is included in the wedding package?

We'll work with you to create a bespoke selection of music, unique to your special day. We will arrive early and always be approachable and friendly, even bringing a gazebo with us if needs be!

How far in advance should I contact you?

Depending on availability, any time from 2 years in advance to one month!

Is it possible to request something that's not in the repertoire?

Yes, if there is a song not currently on our playlist, which is particularly personal to you both, I can arrange this on request. Please be advised that this will involve an additional fee

What's your experience?

We've played for over 800 weddings in all types of venues, from stately homes to modern golf clubhouses

Do you have your own equipment?

Yes

Do you need specific materials or conditions to offer your service?

Yes, can't play in direct sunlight as this can have a detrimental effect on our instruments

Can you travel?

Yes, home counties, London, the East of England, the Midlands and counties such as Gloucestershire and Wiltshire

Is there a charge for travelling?

Yes, 20p a mile as a round-trip (ie. to the venue and back)

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

Yes

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

With a team

What is the length of time of the act?

Any time between 2 hours of playing and 4 hours. This can however be spread over a greater period of time, such as 2 hours of playing spread across 3 hours of time

How much time do you need to prepare for an act?

Very little, as our players are all highly experienced performers who are well acquainted with our music playlist. Occasionally an additional rehearsal may be needed such as when playing with a singer

Do you do open-air acts?

Yes

Do you charge per hour or per event?

Per event

If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?

Yes

How do you charge extra time?

This would need to be planned in advance but there is a degree of flexibility. Generally though, this isn't required as the parts of the day we are normally involved with usually run on time

What are the forms of payment?

Direct bank transfer. A deposit is required but this is deductable from the final balance

Absolutely amazing and they played beautiful!

Absolutely fantastic string quartet! We received a huge number of compliments regarding them on the wedding day and the following days. Friendly, good song repertoire and happy to learn new songs if required, and flexible timings to fit around the wedding day schedule. Would definitely highly recommend!

Absolute Perfection

We booked the string duo for our wedding in March and it was one of the best decisions we made. Vaughan was super helpful throughout the whole planning process. There’s a huge amount of songs which can be played, from all kinds of genres so there is definitely something for everyone!
On the day, they played for the pre-ceremony, ceremony and drinks reception. The music was absolutely beautiful and we wish we could have had them playing music all day! We will never forget how beautiful the music was, it made our day so so special.

Incredible

Where do I even start? We were sadly let down a month before our wedding and we were in desperate need of live music for our ceremony! I came across Manor House string quartet and Vaughan from day one was amazing- he did he absolute best to help us out! We had a beautiful ceremony and the music really did make it extra special! We really can’t thank you enough- you have been amazing and we would 1000000% recommend you! Thank you so much!! We are so grateful!

Beautiful music for our ceremony and reception

Cannot thank Vaughan enough for making our day so special. Vaughan was a pleasure to work with in the run up to our wedding, and his experience made us confident that we could trust him to handle anything on the day. We had initially asked about a string quartet for our wedding ceremony and the drinks reception, but Vaughan recommended the string duo for the venue we had booked, which worked brilliantly. Such a huge repertoire of pieces to pick from with many different genres, and they were all played perfectly. Thank you so much Vaughan!

One of the best parts of my day

Vaughan and his partner played at our wedding and it was one of the best parts of my day. I just wished I could have been sitting in the ceremony room at the beginning with all our lucky guests who got to hear them play our classical playlist! Very professional, great communication prior to the day and on the day I had no doubts that they would do an amazing job, and they did. Thank you so much!

You really helped bring the day to life for us

Hi Vaughan, I'm sorry it's taken be so long but I really wanted to thank you both, not only on behalf of me and Paul but on behalf of everyone.
Everybody we spoke to commented on your music and how much they enjoyed it - particularly whilst getting seated at the church and waiting for my bridesmaids to get themselves dressed(!).

It was everything I could've hoped for on my wedding day and more!!

Hi Vaughan, thank you so, so much for playing at our wedding in September this year, you both played absolutely amazingly, it was everything I could've hoped for on my wedding day and more!!
