Spencer Sax is a musical artist and DJ from Lancaster, Lancashire, who performs at weddings and other special occasions.
About
Based in the North West, Spencer is one of the industry's leading saxophonists! He has played professionally for 16 years, performed worldwide, and consecutively for the last 3 years, he has performed at over 100 weddings each year. Spencer is known mainly for his energy levels and ability to hype up any crowd, whether it be your evening drinks reception or afternoon canapes. He is an expert at the saxophone, achieving a first-class degree and a distinction master's qualification in saxophone performance from the Royal Northern College of Music (the country's leading Saxophone institution!)
Spencer prides himself on tailoring his packages to fit around your day and your needs, whether that be specific performance instructions such as "Surprise entrance" or providing demo first dance videos as part of his booking process if you want to hear how that first dance as a married couple will sound with Spencer's soaring sax playing.
Packages
Afternoon drinks\canapes:
For the "Afternoon drinks" slot (usually the part of the day between the ceremony and wedding breakfast.), Spencer can provide up to 90 minutes of music with no break to ensure a continuous atmosphere. This set is performed at a lower volume level to allow you and your guests to catch up.
He can tailor the music playlist to suit your tastes, but some popular music playlists include the following:
- Club Mambo/Ibiza sunset
- Motown/Soulful Sax
- Jazzy cocktail
The saxophone provides such a classy atmosphere regardless of which playlist you choose. The saxophone always has the wow factor (especially with Spencer's trademark gold jacket!).
If the sun is out, Spencer can set up outside with his remote and tidy battery-powered sound system to get that sunset atmosphere going for you! Even when you get your photos taken, you'll hear his upbeat sax playing, and you'll all be dancing and creating those everlasting memories.
Ceremony add on:
Spencer can add your ceremony to the "Afternoon drinks" package or the "Dual Package". For this, you get up to 30 minutes of background melodic, beautiful sax melodies as your guests are seated. Spencer takes on any song requests you have for the bridal entrance and the couple exit song. Literally, ANY song you want is fine. He can also provide 10 minutes of music to sign the register if needed. Again, he is happy to take on any special performance requests.
Wedding Breakfast/Power 30mins:
This is Spencer's newest package. He arrives earlier in the day to set up his sound system so that his surprise entrance isn't ruined, and when you think the moment is right, he does a massive SURPRISE entrance that you and your guests will never forget. For this Power 30 minutes, Spencer will excite the crowd and get everyone on their feet, dancing and singing along to his set. This is such a fun set, and if you're looking to burn off the pudding by having a good dance with your closest people, get this one booked. It's 30 minutes of high-energy/saxophone fun!
Cocktail hour:
This is a perfect set to get you and your guests in the mood for dancing throughout the whole night. This set is ideal if you have a room turn-around and don't want that dreaded Lull in your day. You'll walk out of your wedding breakfast with full bellies and big smiles, and immediately, you'll be transported to a classy cocktail bar with Spencer's Saxophone playing. This playlist is upbeat with disco/remixes of pop songs so that you can sing along, but because of the style of music, it has a more contemporary style. It will add that extra luxurious touch that you want to elevate this part of the day and get your guests in the mood for PARTY!!! If you want a more downplayed version, Spencer can also play a jazzy playlist here instead. This might be more fitting for a Masquerade ball theme, perhaps!
Evening party:
This is Spencer's most popular package, and for good reason!!
For the "Evening Party" slot, you'd have Spencer hired for the whole night so that you can have the impact of the sax throughout the entire night! He'd team up with the DJ you book or the DJ that comes with your venue to keep you and your guests dancing. He'd arrive before the room changeover so everything is set up smoothly with guests. The initial plan would be to perform 3 x 30mins sets of high-energy music throughout the night. If you would prefer smaller mini sets, this is fine, but in general, the 30-minute slots are a good length for the impact you're looking for.
He prides himself on keeping that dance floor full for you ALL NIGHT, and as he brings a wireless microphone, this allows him to be right next to you and your guests on the dance floor, throwing some shapes!
You can expect him to roam around the whole room and play with your guests on the tables so that everybody feels involved, and it truly is a fun/interactive experience.
He'd be very flexible on the night regarding when to perform the sets, but it's usually good to spread out the sax playing throughout the night.
He's pleased to play first dances, etc., so if you wanted this, this would be part of the deal.
Dual Package:
If you're looking for exceptional value for money, this package is for you. You get the "Evening Party" package and the "Afternoon Drinks/Canapes" package at a HEAVILY DISCOUNTED rate. The ceremony add-on can also be added to this package.
Travel Policy:
Spencer travels nationwide (UK) for weddings, including a travel-inclusive zone from his base (Lancaster) of 2.5 hours. If your venue is further away than this, an extra travel charge will be added during the booking process. This is all ironed out at the very beginning of the booking process, so there won't be any nasty surprises.
