About
The English Roses were formed in 2012 by British sopranos Sophie Pullen and Iúnó Connolly – the intention being to combine their vocal talents into a performing partnership that would present classical opera and song in exciting and intimate recitals. The young sopranos have both trained at Birmingham Conservatoire and specialise in singing at weddings, parties and events.
Experience
Iúnó and Sophie met on a summer opera course with acclaimed company British Youth Opera, and have since been studying at Birmingham Conservatoire where they have worked extensively as soloists in addition to singing together as a duo. Iúnó was the winner of the Vocal Solo at the International Eisteddfod this year and has sung as a soloist in the UK and also extensively in Italy where she studied for a term in 2012. Sophie has sung with Glyndebourne Youth Opera and at the Royal Opera House, and has performed in Germany, Holland and France in addition to frequent performances around the UK.
Services offered
They have a wide repertoire of duets and solos encompassing opera and operetta, English classical and folk songs, oratorio arias and duets and favourites from the musicals. Sophie and Iúnó are happy to learn new repertoire in order to provide a personal musical accompaniment that fits perfectly with your wedding. In addition to being polished and experienced performers 'The English Roses' are always well prepared and presented. Prior to the event they will discuss fully your requirements and particular requests.
