The Thornes are a live band based in Sutton, Surrey, that are happy to provide high-energy performances for weddings and events. This 7-piece band features a team of skilled instrumentalists and vocalists who love getting crowds to their feet. Since 2018, they have been performing regularly throughout South West London, and by 2021, they've been serving as a vital part of romantic celebrations. With their extensive repertoire and musical skills, they will be ready to give you and your guests a fun time on the dance floor.

Services Offered

The Thornes's main services feature 90 minutes of live music split into two sets, which can be adjusted to suit your needs and wants. You will have an array of genres to choose from, where you prefer classic Motown hits or modern pop tunes. On your big day, they will arrive with a high-quality PA system and party lights, transforming your venue into a party-ready setting. Some of their other services include:

What is included in the wedding package?

Two 45-minute sets, jammed backed with tunes your guests will love. Full PA system and stage lights. First dance (or another song request) played by the band

How far in advance should I contact you?

We think 12 months before is the ideal to get in contact, to avoid disappointment. But, do still ask us if it is sooner than that, there's always the chance we'll be available!

Music from throughout the decades and specialising in pop, rock, soul, funk, R&B and disco... the list of genres is ever expanding BUT every song is picked to get your guests on the dance floor!

Is it possible to request something that's not in the repertoire?

We learn and play one song request as part of your package, which is usually the first dance. Additional song requests come with a small charge that covers the rehearsing and preparation of music

What's your experience?

The Thornes is formed by school friends, after our studies at various prestigious music colleges (such as Royal College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire and Leeds Conservatoire to name a few)

Do you have your own equipment?

Yes

Do you need specific materials or conditions to offer your service?

Yes, shelter from rain, wind, sun and snow. A minimum of 2 plug sockets close by to the performance area. An area appropriately 6x4 metres to use as our stage

Can you travel?

Yes, we gig regularly around South London and Surrey. We are happy to travel further, on the conditional that any necessary fuel, food and accommodation expenses are catered for

Is there a charge for travelling?

Yes, reasonable travel expenses will be agreed upon. They will cover fuel for the vehicles and necessary any public transport

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

No

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

Alone

What is the length of time of the act?

90 minutes is our standard package, split into two separate 45 minute sets. Depending on your needs, we can provide up to 180 minutes of live music, split into sets of maximum 60 minutes in length

How much time do you need to prepare for an act?

It can take up to 90 minutes to get ready for a performance. This includes loading in, setting up and sound checking. If your guests will be in the same room, we can come earlier in the day to set up

Do you do open-air acts?

Do you charge per hour or per event?

Per event

If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?

No

How do you charge extra time?

The complex and relentless time constraints of weddings generally leave no room for extra sets. However, if you wish us to to perform an impromptu extra set, this will be charged at time and a half

What are the forms of payment?

50% deposit at the time of booking payed by bank transfer/BACS. The balance can be payed any time up until the date of the event but must be settled before the band set up on the day
