Hello, I'm Carl James i am a wedding Photography based in Derbshire in the Midlands. My journey in the industry began with landscape photography and has since extended to the world of weddings. Two of my proudest moments in photography, firstly, was when i first had my work published and the second, when i said yes to my first wedding, since then i have been hooked. The raw emotion, romance, and theatrics of this momentous occasion really drew me to this style of photography. I offer hybrid shooting so i shoot Photo and Video. Nothing captures your day like a video to music.

Services Offered

Since my first wedding i have fallen head over heels for wedding photography and i take pride in photographing couples who match my energy and of course being head over heels for each other. Capturing the candid and unscripted moments is at the heart of my carefully perfected craft. I understands that formal posed pictures can be daunting for most and i lean into this by favouring a candid approach. i.e keep you moving and snapping the cute intimate moments inbetween.

Hybrid shooting is the method i go by, meaning i will alternate between videography and photography throughout the day. However if its just photo or just video that is fine too.

I do offer buy now, pay later with Klarna options, which is extra handy if you are booking me last minute

What does the wedding package include?

Photography & Video This is the hybrid package and our most popular. This caters to all your photography and video needs. This includes everything from getting ready right through in to the reception

How far in advance should I contact you?

You can contact me anytime however closer to your wedding date runs the risk of me being unavailable on that date

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

No

Can you travel?

Yes, the entire UK. I also cater to bespoke destination weddings around the world

What is the charge for travelling?

This depends on a number of factors. However in most cases if its within the UK, i will not charge a fee

What style of photos do you take?

What kind of technology do you use?

Digital

Do you use a specific technique or innovative approach?

i aim to make my couples feel relaxed as possible. If it doesn't feel natural to you then io wouldn't make you do it. I am not one of these photographers who would have you standing back to back haha

What kind of equipment do you use?

I use 2 Sony mirrorless cameras, mainly using 3 prime lenses 35mm, 85mm and a 100mm macro

I don't tend to charge for any extra hours, Weddings are expensive enough without me adding even more to that fee

I like to shoot Candid, with a fly on the wall approach. However i will help guide you if i think it will make a stunning photo

Our wedding photographer

Carl was our wedding photographer & we couldn’t have wished for anyone better! From the first meeting we had with Carl, right up until our wedding day, everything was perfect!

Carl really listened to everything we wanted, his communication was fantastic & he is such a lovely, friendly person to work with!

Dream come true!

Could not recommend Carl enough he was so easy to work with from start to finish and made sure we had exactly what we wanted, put us at ease and the photos and video are better than we could have wished for!
We had so many positive comments from guests on the day about Carl and he managed to capture absolutely every detail of the day!

I found Carl to be the ultimate professional, nothing was to much, his mixing with guests, the natural pictures that he managed to take, his directional skills and his attention to detail where second to none. August Wedding

We had Carl to photograph our wedding and could not be happier with him.
From start to finish he was amazing. From coming round the house to replying to every text or call straight away. It wasn’t a venue that he had photographed previously so he made the time to visit and look at the best spots before the wedding day. On the morning he was so helpful to all us all and beyond that just a really nice friendly lad to have round and got on had a laugh with us all.

We had our full photos back recently and we love them. So many amazing pictures that we didn’t get chance to see during the day. He also did a video of the day for us and I can’t stop watching it. He has captured our special day so perfectly and I cannot recommend highly enough.

Creative & fun

Carl built a fun and creative atmosphere with myself, my bride and all of our guests. He invented some amazing ideas which since seeing the final videography package, all really worked. He was polite, respectful and put us all at ease throughout the day. We are all thrilled with the final product, the footage of the day, the speeches and the back ground music all came out brilliantly and we can’t stop showing people what Carl has created. Amazing value for money and we couldn’t recommend him enough!

Outstanding 🤩

To be honest, I don’t think there are enough words I could use to say how immensely fantastic Carl was, he listened to everything! He knew exactly what we wanted and the style we would love. Carl is by no means your average photographer, the fact he stayed until the very end of the wedding proves how much he dedicates his passion into making things absolutely perfect! The vibe he bought to the day was incredible and all of our guests commented on how lovely he was. Nothing was too big or small to ask. I would recommend Carl over and over again to all future couples! He blew us away, and every time I look at my photos I am reminded of it. I can not wait to see the video, because if they are anything like the photos then my breath will be taken away all over again!!

Not just a photographer. Carl goes above and beyond to ensure your day is perfect from start to finish.

Carl helped us so much from the very beginning of planning our wedding. He was not only our photographer but wedding organiser, master of ceremonies, runner and chauffeur (because it threw it down!!)
He gave us a bespoke service which took so much pressure off us from the start. Our photos and videos are so beautiful and he ensured that we captured everything that personally meant so much to us and our family.

Above and beyond!

We really couldn't of been happier with Carl. Right from the start he was a pleasure to be around. His communication was excellent, his knowledge of weddings and the industry really helped us with quite alot on our list. His style of photography wasn't intrusive, he captured photos that were so beautiful we hung them on our wall.

ALSO i think its worth a mention, what I loved about Carl, he didn't put a premium on anything. He does all extras at cost price. Quoting him from our meeting "weddings are expensive enough without me adding unreasonable costs"

Amazing! Couldn't have dreamed of more 😍

Me and my partner Dylan were so nervous about the formals, however Carl made us feel so at ease. He kept us moving, nothing too staged and kept our focus on each other. He is so easy going and has great communication skills. He sees things before it even happens and doesn't stop all day. 5 stars from us. Thank you for making our day so special, and giving us memories we can cherish forever

Fun, Unique and Memorable

Carl is just one of those people you meet and remember. He is so much fun to work with and a lovely person. No matter how stressed, Carl always has a happy demeanor and enthusiasm. Everything is possible, and he comes up with great ideas that are executed with precision. He is everything in one. His photography, videography, and storytelling are unique, and he takes time. He has a fine eye for detail, and editing and combining his videos, searching for the right music, and capturing all those precious moments are his thing. I cannot recommend Carl enough. You will not be disappointed and will have great memories lasting you a lifetime. I have used Carl for many projects because once he starts, you realize there might be many other possibilities, especially with his can-do attitude.

Best (looking) in the business.

What can i say, other than my new husband wanting to leave me for this hunk, Carl was outstanding, he accommodated all of our special needs with no issue.

All of the photos produced will stand the test of time and we couldn’t be happier. He even helped my aging grandma up to dance. He went above and beyond and i’ll recommend him to anyone.

Simply the most fabulous photographer

Carl wanted to make sure he captured everything we wanted from our day and before the day was forthcoming with ideas that sounded lovely, he was super accommodating. When the day came nerves were everywhere and I didn’t even notice the camera, he kind of merged in the background but yet made you laugh along the way, he captured moments I didn’t even know he had, me and my partner hate photoshoots etc but he made the photos fun, he’s a great guy with a great sense of humour and that couldn’t of helped more when we felt so nervous. The end product was out of this world we couldn’t of asked for more he delivered way more than we expected. I can not recommend him enough. I would never recommend any one else! Thanks Carl ❤️
