I would describe my approach to wedding photography as modern and stylish but also very natural - mostly reportage style. I like to keep things classically composed, with beautiful skin tones, whilst retaining the natural documentary feel that comes from taking candid shots - I aim to capture the atmosphere as it unfolds naturally.
Great wedding photography is about telling a story, documenting all the memorable moments, as well as the family and the guests and the emotions of the day. I always take great care to create beautiful photos of all the details, too, such as the dress, the bouquet, the wedding cake, and the table decor. For the Bride & Groom shots, I keep things very relaxed for couples, finding the most beautiful spots with the best light, and I encourage couples to get close and not to worry about fussy or staged poses. As long as you are relaxed and happy, I can always create really beautiful and timeless portraits which you will love!
I do like to take classically composed ‘formal' group shots of family/bridesmaids/groomsmen etc., (whatever the couple wants) as well as all the details and personal touches, but mostly I take lots of natural, candid shots, capturing the guests and everything that goes on, in a discreet, unobtrusive way, so that the images reflect the reality of the day, and the emotions captured are real. I often use long lenses, so I can get close-up shots from a discreet distance.
Having said that, I'm happy to be led to an extent by the couple, so if they have a particular approach or style they want me to follow, I'm very open to that. I'm here to serve the Bride and Groom and to give them images they will love. I take around 1500 - 2000 photos, and from these, select the very best images, giving the couple 500 - 600 high-quality, finely edited photographs.
Every photo is individually worked on to make it look it's very best - I make adjustments to brightness, contrast, overall colour, skin tone etc., and I put additional work into the Bride & Groom portraits. I’m also skilled in Photoshop and retouching if required.
The images are delivered to you on a stylish Walnut USB memory stick, which comes in a Walnut presentation box engraved with ‘Our Wedding’. Photos are delivered two-three weeks after the wedding.
I always like to meet with couples in person first to hear their plans and ideas and get a feel for how they are planning their big day, and I'll offer advice regarding the timings and a few tips, and after that, I'll put together a suggested schedule for the photography to include everything that they want. Then, if they are happy to go ahead, I ask for a £200 deposit to secure the date for them. I keep in touch throughout the planning process, and I like to meet up again around a month before the wedding, ideally at the venue, to go over the finalised schedule and work out where is going to work best for the Bride & Groom portraits, as well the Family / Group shots.
