Hi, and welcome to my Hitched profile. I’m Simon; a father of two amazing daughters and hotelier to two needy but awesome cats. I’m also a documentary wedding photographer based in both Hampshire and London, and proud to be a winner in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Hitched Wedding Awards. Over fifty weddings down, I enjoy a clean sweep of exclusively five star reviews from all my couples on both Google and Hitched.
I’m not precious about genres of photography but you’d probably characterise me as a documentary wedding photographer, because I like my imagery and therefore my couples, to be natural and relaxed, not contrived.
Why choose me?
I really care what you think and how you feel about the imagery I create for you. So as much as I am a supplier of a service to you, photographing your wedding is a critically important labour of love for me, and I’ll treat the day, and you as my client, as such.
So, if you want a natural wedding photographer to be with you, not just for the day but to capture the best bits from the nights celebrations, then choose me. When you ask for full day coverage, that’s what you’ll get.
If you want a documentary wedding photographer but still, you want someone who understands that you might not be super-comfortable in front of the camera and might need some gentle steering to help create natural, beautiful imagery, then choose me.
I choose to be as unobtrusive on the day as possible and unless you tell me otherwise, I’d rather forego a shot than dominate a moment of a ceremony at the expense of that undistracted moment for you. After all, you’re not choosing a photographer so that they can win awards; you’re choosing them to create images that you love.
When you look back on your imagery in the years that follow, I want you to remember the moments that happened and connect the emotions that were genuinely felt, picture by picture, rather than see images that were engineered or contrived by someone else.
Being a documentary wedding photographer is a fun role, but a serious business. So, I’ll plan my role on your day meticulously, communicate with you consistently, and will always work with back up equipment available in case something unexpected happens. I cover all of the South of the UK and further afield as required; in fact, I’ve received commissions from as far west as Cornwall and as far east as eastern Germany.
The bottom line is this: if you want me, I want in.

Full day coverage packages within 100 miles of Hampshire are inclusive; thereafter, travel expenses may be charged at 40ppm from SO32 postcode

We can't recommend Simon highly enough!
From the outset when we sent our first enquiry email Simon was chatty, friendly and open with us. He was quick to respond to us and had a great approach to meeting us over Zoom so we could get to know each other and what we wanted. Having shared some images from his portfolio with us, it was also clear from the beginning that Simon is a very talented photographer.
Simon did both an engagement shoot as well as our wedding photos and we are so glad to have experienced and got wonderful photos from both. The engagement shoot was really valuable for us to meet in person, get to know each other more and also get used to being in front of the camera (which Simon’s relaxed approach eased). We were so thrilled with the photos from the engagement shoot; Simon captured lovely moments presenting genuine and natural emotion and feeling without engineering them. He also took his lead from us, so that we felt totally comfortable (which also comes through in the photos).
On the lead up to our wedding day Simon was communicative, supportive and made things as easy as possible for us. On the day itself, Simon again showed kindness and support. He was respectful about photography within the church, which was very small and somewhat challenging to move around, but Simon chatted with the vicar beforehand and they made a plan that worked for everyone. Over the whole day, he was subtle in his approach enabling him to capture real conversations and small, but meaningful elements. Everyone said how friendly Simon was, but equally commented about how he moved around quietly and unobtrusively, keeping everyone comfortable. Simon was flexible when our portrait session didn’t go to plan and when timings went awry.
Our wedding photos are beautiful and what we wanted them to be. They have allowed us to relive our day and to see parts of it that we didn’t see first hand. Again, Simon captured photos radiant with personality and created images that manage to visualise pure and honest connections between people. Everything we hoped for from our wedding photographer
Simon was wonderful to work with from start to finish. His care for clients is remarkable -- he met with us multiple times beforehand to walk through everything, he scouted locations in advance for our photos, and at our wedding he managed to be exactly as present as we needed him to be. No more, no less. Most importantly, his pictures were beautiful! It was an incredible day, and Simon was an integral part of it. We would recommend him to anyone.

Fantastic!
My husband and I had a few chats with Simon before our intercultural humanist wedding in June. He was quick to understand that both of us wanted a blended secular wedding that respected our cultures. This meant limited displays of physical affection which usually gives photographers little to work with. However, Simon was able to capture the warmth, love affection and humour that my partner and I share alongside the deep sense of respect and love we have for our families and friends. We couldn't recommend Simon enough for anyone's upcoming wedding!

Simon captured our day beautifully

We could not have asked for more!
Simon was fantastic! He really took the time in the lead up to the wedding to talk us through the day and find out what we were after. The photos are truly beautiful. Simon stayed right into the evening, we couldn’t thank him enough for being so amazing! We would highly recommend Simon.

Lost for words
Simon was absolutely incredible throughout the whole process. From the initial video call we just knew we had to secure him as our photographer. Simon is incredibly personable and has a very calming nature about him, making the idea of having photographs taken a fun and less daunting experience. And that’s exactly what it was! The quality of the photos are second to none - we were lost for words. He’s captured every emotion. Thank you so so much.

Can't recommend Simon enough!
So glad we found Simon! Within minutes of chatting to him it's clear that he is GENUINELY passionate about what he does through the way he speaks about all the weddings he's worked on.
The images really speak for themselves! He turned a miserable grey day into something amazing! He goes above and beyond to get the perfect shot which meant wading through bushes and momentarily stopping traffic! My only complaint is that he couldn't have cloned himself so we could capture even more moments from the day.

Superb - authentic and artistic
Simon is not only a superb technical photographer, but he genuinely cares about the couples and people he captures and succeeds in the challenging task of truly capturing the raw emotion in their key moments. We were blown away by his images, which made our day look as glorious as it felt. They captured all the love and emotion we felt. And he did all this so subtly and charmingly on the day. He was a delight to spend time with - a genuine, caring personality with enormous talent. Thank you Simon.

Magical - We can’t stop smiling at the photos
Our wedding was an incredible day and seeing the photos produced by Simon means we can forever look back at the day with the fondest of memories.
Every time we look at the photos, we see happiness and that is thanks to Simon. He was able to capture everyone at their best; acting naturally, enjoy themselves and being part of the moment. I can’t stop smiling. The difficult decision will be deciding which photos to have hung in our home!

Exactly what we wanted!
Our experience with Simon was really amazing! From the moment we met over a video call you get the feeling that Simon was very interested in us as a couple and as people to get to know us even before we talked business. He gets to know you and what you like to get a feeling of what type of photos you would like and you can really see this in his work! By the time I actually met Simon in person was on the wedding day but it felt like we already knew each other. You can really see the passion he has for photography and he really knows what he is doing with the camera.
When we got our official wedding photos back from him, it was like reliving our wedding day with all the details and hidden moments he captured! You don’t even know that he is there and looking at the photos you know he was everywhere! His attention to detail is amazing, his guidance during the couple shoot was a pure joy!

Highly recommended
Being the most un photogenic and awkward person in front of a camera is not a good start. Simon made me feel very comfortable and made the sitting more like hanging out with a great friend. Informal, relaxed and natural without the awkward posing etc.
It’s clear that Simon is passionate about his photography and capturing the sentiment and mood rather than just the look. I’m delighted with the shots and would highly recommend Simon for portrait, professional head shots and weddings.
