About

Hi there! It's Simon. :) My wife and I have two boys, and I love creating joyful family memories. I'm happiest in the Skye mountains or when I'm out on adventures with my camera. I've been a firefighter, crewed a lifeboat, and am an HM Coastguard Rescue Officer in North Skye.
My artistic photography has been well-published internationally and focuses on using the historic wet plate collodion process, invented in 1851.
I'm just finishing making my second feature-length documentary, so it's time to open the books to new clients here in Skye for weddings and elopement photography.
You'll find me to be relaxed, friendly, creative and trustworthy.
I was recently featured on BBC Scotland Landward and previously on BBC Creatives.

Ideally 12 months in advance, however, I do have last minute availability

Can you travel?

Yes, the Isle of Skye is my main area, but I do travel throughout the Scottish Highlands

What is the charge for travelling?

This is dependant on the location, time of year, and the duration of travelling. Mileage is charged at 45 pence per mile

Yes, what sets me aside is my experience as an artist and film-maker

What kind of equipment do you use?

I am capable of using complicated equipment and rigs, including drones and multi-lit sets, but this is not normally required. I am also a keen climber, for those more adventurous weddings!

Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?

Yes, i use a secured online gallery and shop for my clients to view, download, share, and order prints etc

What's the delivery time for a photographic report?

Quiraing Vow Renewal

So incredibly happy with our vow renewal pictures! Simon was very responsive throughout the planning process and even helped us with picking a location. This was our first time to the Quiraing, and Simon made sure that we had the perfect spot (great views and away from tourists). It was quite windy on that day so he suggested a second location to get even more beautiful photos. We were so happy that we did. Our backdrop was on top of the Quiraing AND along the black beaches of Staffin. He used a drone, too, which helped capture all of the beautiful landscape. This was once one in a lifetime event for us and Simon captured it perfectly!

Excellent photographer

Simon was an absolute pleasure, he was prompt and well organised and knew how to put everyone at ease. His photographs were beautiful and we are so glad we went with him!
