12 Aug, 2023Our Real Wedding
6 years ago swiping away on Bumble I don't think either of us expected to find what we did. After years of adventures, multiple house moves and adopting our rescue dog -everything changed in December 2021 when Caicy got down on one knee in a snowy Gdansk street and asked me to marry him.
Now onto the good bit, our wedding. I'm a natural organiser so genuinely found planning the whole thing a lot of fun! From creating Instagram inspiration folders to browsing vendors and other real-life weddings on Hitched. Also, get a physical wedding journal, it was my bible throughout the process.
We both decided that we wanted the wedding to really represent us as a couple. We wanted it to be remembered for great food, good music and most importantly lots of laughter.
The first piece of the puzzle was our venue. From the moment we initially viewed Manor by the Lake, we could imagine the flow of our wedding day perfectly. The team there made everything from planning, communication and the coordination of the day itself a breeze.

We welcomed our guests with a Pimm's cart and the music of the day was kicked off by The Herefordshire Piper to honour Caicy's grandparents' Scottish heritage.
All of our signage for the day was designed by me on Canva which was really simple and we just used Printed to get everything printed to the size and formats we wanted.
Our ceremony was held in one of the most beautiful rooms in the Manor, the Maximillian. Here our guests were surprised by our "flower bro" starting the procession. Expertly caught in action in the photos attached. We decided to write our own promises to share during the ceremony which really added to the emotion of the day. Readings were selected to honour loved ones no longer with us and also the meaning of love and finding your person.
We all danced out of the ceremony the "We Go Together" from Grease! After this, we were caught in a blizzard of confetti, highly recommend Proper Confetti's paper confetti! A drinks reception followed with a signature cocktail hour, ice cream cart and garden games. The fabulous Bristol String Quartet brought the Bridgeton vibes playing everything from Dolly Parton to Dr. DRE to the Jurassic Park theme tune. Simply superb!
Guests were then welcomed to the ballroom for a 3-course meal, so many people commented on it being the best wedding food they had ever had. There was a vast choice of menu options and all dietary requirements were covered at no extra cost. As place cards we had personalised menus made for each guest, these were made by Blossom Stationary.
The room was quickly switched around making a dance floor for our guests to party into the night. DJ Markus was an absolute delight to work with. He kept our dance floor full all night and read the room perfectly. He regularly checked in with us throughout the evening to make sure the vibe was right.
A bit about some of our other wonderful vendors. First up is Bijoux Floral who provided bouquets, buttonholes, centrepieces and the most gorgeous flower columns as our statement piece. I gave Rebecca a brief of the colours I liked and that I wanted something full of texture and wow did she deliver! Not only did the florals look stunning but smelled amazing as everyone entered the ballroom for the wedding breakfast.
The wedding cake and dessert table of my dreams was brought to life by Vanilla Pod Bakery. A stunning 3 tier buttercream cake with a cascade of macarons. The hardest bit was selecting the flavours from their incredible tasting box before the wedding! We finally set on Salted Caramel, Carrot, orange & walnut and the final layer was lemon sponge with raspberry jam! We ordered individual slice cake boxes so our guests could take the cake away without having to squash it in a napkin or pocket (we've all been there, done that).
The groom and his groomsmen wore traditional Scottish formal outfits from MacGregor and MacDuff. My lovely bridesmaids, all 3 of my sisters, had multiway dresses from Kate's Dresses. It was important for me that they still felt like themselves on the day.
And last, but certainly no means least, our magical photographer Albert Palmer. You can see in the selection of images attached just how easily his work speaks for itself. Every emotion of the day was captured perfectly and we will be able to re-live our wedding day over and over each time we look at them.
