04 May, 2024Our Real Wedding
On Star Wars day of all days, Dan and I finally got married! Seventeen years in the making and it was everything we hoped it would be and more, more because the sun shone brilliantly all day and gave us the most amazing sunset I’ve ever seen! Such a magical weekend, and we got to share it with those closest to us and that made it even more special. I don’t know what we did to get so lucky but I do know we’ll be on a wedding high for some time yet!
Our style was a bit of vintage glam by the sea! We wanted a relaxed vibe where everyone could be at ease and Tunnels Beaches was the perfect location. Dan is a massive vinyl collector and musician so we had a bit of a "vinyl theme" running through the decor and "love me do designs" did such a fantastic job with this theme. We wanted to involve as many of our friends and family as possible and of course our beautiful boys (Elliott and Beckett), lots of people had a part to play and it all came together perfectly.
I loved the boys sandy coloured suits and the mismatched sequinned bridesmaids dresses that were rocked by my girls! My dress was a champagne coloured, long, fitted bardot style dress with lots of really detailed embellishing. I was so happy with it. Our colours were inspired by a pink sunset over the sea and we had blues and greens and pinks and champagne throughout. My flowers were pink peonies, champagne roses, blue thistle, pink astilbe, pale blue delphiniums and Eucalyptus plus a few Iris' in memory of my lovely Nan. I loved my flowers so much! Also, I really enjoyed the sparklers during our first dance outside at sunset!
Continue reading »Our cake was a macaron tower cake with blue, pink and champagne macarons. It was delicious. We had mini devon scones for canapes and a BBQ for our wedding breakfast and it really was the BBQ of dreams.
My favourite part of the day was the ceremony. I thought I'd be a blubbering mess but actually I just felt so damn happy and was on a real high feeling the love with all our favourite people. It was intimate and personal and the sound of the waves crashing in the background really made it special. Shout out to our friend Adam for learning and reading the words of Frank O’Hara like an absolute pro. No small task that one! Plus our niece, Ferne for doing a super cute reading by Whitney Hanson. My next favourite part was walking around the tidal pools with Dan at sunset. I couldn't believe the sunset we were gifted and the photos are something else! We will treasure them forever!
I also loved the speeches, such good fun! I still want to thank a million people (probably why I didn’t do a speech myself )
But mainly thanks go out to all our guests who made the mammoth journey to come and spend the day with us at the incredible Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe. To share our day with our favourite humans, our friends and our family was so special. We will remember it forever 04.05.24.
Final thanks go to our amazing suppliers:
Lou (my old hairdresser from the Midlands) from Potion, for travelling a billion miles to come and do our hair. Having her bubbling personality around us in the morning put me at ease more than she will ever know and knowing my hair was in the hands of someone I know will work their magic was priceless.
The lovely (fellow Aquarian and twirl lover) Anna rom Anna R-J for being a brilliant MUA and all round professional making us look fabulous!
The amazing Johnny Dent from Johnny Dent Photography for not only being the photographer of dreams but also for being such a genuinely cool Guy, putting everyone at ease, blending in effortlessly and helping with everything from button holes to neon light installations! Moustache Man! You are the !
The lovely Sandie from Blossoms and Butterflies for creating the flowers of my dreams.
The lovely Andreia from the one with cake for creating our beautiful cake and macaron tower.
The Crafty Lab for our fabulous wedding newspapers!
Love me Do designs for the fantastic vinyl themed signs and favours.
To the amazing staff at Tunnels Beaches for looking after us from the very first enquiry until we checked out. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was out of this world. The venue was out of this world. The day was just magical!
And our fabulous band Three Scots and a Barman who got everyone up and dancing and were amazing (and super professional) from start to finish
