09 Nov, 2024Our Real Wedding
At the risk of sounding cliche - we had the time of our lives! We were adamant that we would plan every detail to suit us and our guests rather than getting swept up in ‘the norm’ and so many of our guests and loved ones commented on how personal it all felt. Our venue was the first big decision and it was just perfect for us, we felt incredibly lucky to discover a beautiful vineyard with high quality English wines only 1 hour from home. The countryside views, the vines, the stunning apex ceremony room and rustic and beautiful tasting room bar were all amazing. More than that, the team were a wonderful support to us when planning, helping with decor set up and seamlessly running the event on the day. We’re both big foodies, and we knew from the start that the meal would be our standout item and where we wanted to spend budget. We wanted our guests to feel they had a luxury 3 course meal and selected some courses that they may not ordinarily eat. We hired a private chef who we later discovered had been filming on Masterchef the Professionals, a dream partnership for us. A local top chef, using seasonal quality ingredients and just putting us as ease throughout. After eating we were keen for it to feel like a night out, we hired a dj that specialises in dance music - what we like - rather than the usual party / wedding setlist. We made a personalised shotski and handmade liqueurs (coffee tequilla, raspberry vanilla vodka and rhubard ginger gin) to get the party started alongside games, beer pong and silly props. One of our planning decisions which felt a bit of a risk but perfectly paid off was opting not to have a photographer or videographer but instead hire a content creator to mingle in amongst guests and take mainly candid clips and shots. Our wonderful dog groomer took care of Winnie, our pride and joy. She arrived looking bathed and beautiful, she was so well behaved at the ceremony and having family photos. There's so much more we could say about the day but the main takeaway for me is I’d urge couples planning their big day to really consider what matters most to them and what will make your guests relax and let loose to enjoy the day. We loved every moment and we will cherish it all for the rest of our lives.
