12 Sep, 2021Our Real Wedding
After 4 months of being engaged, 18 months of planning and 3 postponements due to COVID-19, we were very pleased to finally get our special day. It was full of fun, joy and love and we were surrounded by our nearest and dearest, including my family from Portugal. We had a church wedding at Saint Paul’s Church in Chiswick, and followed the celebrations in the Great Conservatory at Syon Park. The overall them of the wedding was “London” with a touch of Portugal, so we had a vintage London bus transport our guest between venues, a vintage classic London taxi as the bridal car, phone box photobooth, London themed toys as favours for the children and wedding stationary fully personalised with London tube stations for the seating chart and custom tube map to show the order of the day. For the Portuguese touches, we sourced all the wines and beers from Portugal, had a vintage port served during dessert from the year that we first got together, and had mini Portuguese custard tarts (pastel de nata) as the favours for the adults. As guests arrived at Syon they were greeted by a brass band that got the party started, and then moved inside the conservatory for the wedding breakfast. The dancing then started as I changed into a second outfit, a Nadine Merabi beaded dress, and we had our first dance to a mix of Miguel - Adorn and Gipsy Kings - Bamboleo, a merging of cultures again. All in all it was a day full of laughter and love, and is one that we will never forget
