21 Sep, 2024Our Real Wedding
We had an absolutely amazing day last weekend. I was busy from start to finish. I started off my day getting ready with my family and bridesmaids. We were all so pleased with how our hair and makeup looked.
We then headed over to our wedding venue, a barn converted to be used for weddings. I was worried that it would rain, but the weather held up and the sun even came out during the ceremony. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony. Everyone got very emotional. My husband and I said our personal vows to one another after the ring exchange and my sister sang when we were signing the legal documents. This was all outdoors, by the venue's lake. We then staged a confetti shot, which was a lot of fun. My husband was pelted with confetti, as everyone was aiming for him.
We then took all the friends and family photographs before doing our couples photoshoot. As we headed inside for the speeches, it started to rain, so everything was timed perfectly. The speeches were hilarious and I could not stop laughing.

This was very important for my husband, as he is a huge foodie. All our guests were telling us afterwards how much they enjoyed the food. The bar staff were also amazing.
The bar manager made sure to check on me and get me drinks. I had decision fatigue at this point and she always knew the right drink to suggest. The venue worked with the caterers to help clear out the tables for the room change. It was so seamless, I barely noticed.
The DJ then arrived to set up his equipment. As this was happening, my husband and I went upstairs to take more pictures before we went to do the cake cutting. The cake was absolutely delicious. The bar manager helped call the caterers to come and serve the cake out to our guests. We had purchased takeaway boxes for this so that even if our guests were full, they could take some cake home and none of it would be wasted. This went down well and everyone enjoyed the cake. There were only a few slices left at the end of the night, that my husband and I enjoyed.
We then had our first dance. Our DJ used music from our playlist that all age groups would enjoy and everyone had fun on the dancefloor. We finished the night with one final dance before the forecasted thunderstorm rolled in.
