25 Jul, 2024Our Real Wedding
We found our wedding planner Sian Belton from Busy Brides through Hitched. As we had suddenly and traumatically lost Katie's father 2 days after being engaged she supported and guided us through a highly emotional time. She understood our vision for a black tie wedding with classic flower arrangements and ensured that none of our guests were hungry or bored.
Our wedding had many complexities, including many international and VIP guests and our corgi Odin who was the only one allowed to steal the show.
The day started with a beautiful church ceremony which was a short walk from Buxted Park Hotel, whose hotel manager came to the rescue of the bride and drove her there as the heavens opened. At the church, St Margaret's, we had beautiful music, including Ave Maria sung during the signing by the bride's former singing teacher.
Our reception began with drinks and canapes accompanied by a string trio (South Downs Strings) and guests being entertained by Matt Wainwright the magician, who blew everyone's minds! The wedding breakfast followed with speeches from the Groom, Mother of the Bride, the Bride, Best Woman, and Father of the Groom. It included the bride whipping out her rusty German to impress the groom's family!

The opening song for guests was Dancing Queen by ABBA which got even those with recent knee replacements on the dancefloor! The DJ Paul Lovett kept the dancefloor packed for the whole night. Nearly every guest also enjoyed the photobooth too by Devoted Events!
Although our day poured with rain during what was meant to be the height of summer, our suppliers and the venue did an absolutely amazing job to ensure it didn't dampen our spirits. It led to the creative idea of a confetti toss at night which ended with a kiss and the beginning of the fireworks (Aurora Fireworks).
It was a magical day filled with a lot of laughter, dancing, and magic to begin our new lives together as a married couple. All of this was beautifully captured by ARJ Photography and Land of Wonder Videography.
