26 May, 2024Our Real Wedding
Our day was perfection, everything we wanted it to be. We opted for a humanist ceremony at the stunning Limepark. All our guests commented how ‘us’ the ceremony was. Our celebrant Laura captured our personalities and our story perfectly. There were laughs, tears and many other emotions in between. We had a handfasting for which I made the handfasting cord myself. We opted to cut our cake, handmade by a talented friend immediately after the ceremony as often cake in the evening can go to waste as everyone is so full after dinner! We had pictures taken around the stunning grounds of Limepark, whilst our guests were entertained by our fabulous friend, guitar player and singer Ryan McCabe. For dinner we opted for sharing platters as we wanted an informal, relaxed and fun atmosphere. Our menu theme was middle eastern with delicious harissa chicken and lamb being served. Speeches followed dinner, we had 5 formal speeches including one from myself the bride. The mic was opened up to the floor and much to our surprise another 5 people opted to speak off the cuff which we loved. After dinner we had a bodhran player come to teach our guests how to play, whilst the main room was turned around. We adore traditional Irish music and this prepared everyone well for the ceilidh band who were playing in the evening. They lead us in a few ceilidhs which ensured everyone got up dancing which was exactly what we wanted. I could talk about it all day and our amazing family and friends are still telling us almost 6 weeks on it was the best wedding they have ever been to!! We want to do it all again.!
