Our Real Wedding

Blue skies and calm blue sea on a gorgeous October Saturday at Praa Sands beach. We did the official ceremony with two witnesses on the Friday afternoon in Helston, celebrating with a lunch at the Harbour Inn in Porthleven afterwards. But the main event was in Praa Sands. We had driver from my parents house outside Helston through the gorgeous Cornish countryside to Praa Sands beach. Walking along an aisle that the groom and groomsmen had made on the beach, removing all the seaweed that morning, to my friends singing and playing November Song by Stornoway with my dad in his naval uniform, was a memory I will never forget. Sarah from my Cornwall wedding did the most amazing job making our celebration perfect and even ending the ceremony with words in Cornish. We had bubbles blown rather than confetti as we left the beach which was magical. Clive took us newlyweds for a quick drive so we could have some fizz and a bit of calm before the reception which was lovely. Our reception was on the beach at the Welloe, Praa Sands and we had Cornish Rattler in champagne flutes and Philps Pasties for our canapés. Our cake was made by one of my mum's friends and was decorated in shells and each of the tables I had named after each Cornish beach where I had filled jars and milk bottles of shells and sand. The favours were Cornish fudge in boxes that I made and decorated with Cornish Tartan and a personalised stamp from Honeywell Gifts on Etsy. Bouquets and button holes were dried flowers from Hidden Botanics which were utterly gorgeous and I can now keep forever without them needing to be pressed or made into something else! The party started with our first song rather than a first dance and we performed Zorbing by Stornoway (about Cowley, Oxford where we met) with the bridal party followed by our friends playing a few bangers before Go Go Skank played until the late evening. A fabulous Cornish beach wedding!
