01 Jun, 2019Our Real Wedding
Getting married on the 10th year of us being together was the perfect way to start our journey as Mr & Mrs Redgate!
All of our family and friends said that the wedding was very us, and it captured everything that we love as a couple in a celebration with all of our loved ones. All, who have supported us throughout our 10 years together and all that we have achieved. From travelling up and down the country to visit each other whilst I was studying at University to living for the weekend when Steve joined the RAF and then surviving 6 months apart whilst he was on deployment abroad to finally move in together and creating our own beautiful home.
We loved every moment of planning our special day and seeing it come to life was just incredible! We still love looking through our wedding photos, as Sky Photography captured every detail so beautifully and all of our suppliers did such a fabulous job in bringing our ideas to life!
With our wedding venue, we wanted to keep it local, and it was only when we started researching we discovered Delapré Abbey in Northampton. A venue rich in history, stunning interiors and with the beautiful weather on the day it all created the perfect backdrop of elegance, with lots of charm and sparkle throughout to represent us.

This leads nicely onto THE DRESS! As soon as we walked through the door at Courtyard Bridal Boutique, both myself and my Mum experienced a very warm welcome from the lovely ladies and this set the tone for my wedding dress experience, all of the way through to collecting the dress the day before my wedding!
Being a magpie, adamant on having sleeves to create elegance and loving all things sparkly and full of detail I fell in love with a beautiful Justin Alexander Signature gown. The dress represents my style on a heightened level of perfection, I couldn't wait to wear it for a full day, I knew that it was a dress I would never want to take off. Getting married on a beautiful sunny day really enhanced all of the details of the dress, with the sunlight capturing every ounce of sparkle.
The colour scheme of the golds with navy worked really well against the sparkle and textures created from my dress, which we incorporated into the wedding party, from Steve's fitted suit with silk lapel (Suitors, Northampton), the bridesmaid dresses (Maids to Measure) and the groomsmen attire (Suitors, Northampton).
Another big part of our wedding day was the floral arrangements that dressed the beautiful venue. We used Helena Brown, By Arrangement Florist. Helena understood exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond to deliver the most beautiful arrangements! From the AMAZING flower arch which created the perfect focal point to the fabulous touches of using LED lights in the arrangements to create lots of sparkle! The flowers looked and smelt incredible! I loved working with Helena, a supplier that I could put all of my trust into and who definitely helped us create the WOW factor on our wedding day!
We used Nerissa Eve, to help add the finishing touches to the venue. From the personalised signage using gold ornate frames to the beaded charger plates for the Wedding Breakfast. All elements that added polished finishing touches to complete the theme.
As a couple, we have been to so many gigs and watched lots of live performances. Its a big part of what we get up to at weekends. So the music and entertainment throughout the day was really important to us as we wanted it to represent what we love as a couple. Steve took charge of all things music, and definitely adopted a Simon Cowell approach to comparing and shortlisting our options. We were really lucky to be able to see both our ceremony performer (Daniel Giardiello) and evening band (Echo Drive) perform live before making the bookings. They both helped create the atmosphere that we were after whilst performing the soundtrack to our 10 years together.
With a cocktail-themed wedding cake (Bumble Cottage) and espresso martinis in abundance, the most incredible fresh flowers (By Arrangement), beautiful venue, amazing live music (Daniel Giardiello & Echo Drive) and surrounded by the most important people in our lives we were able to create the most magical atmosphere to represent Mr & Mrs Redgate throughout the day!
