30 Nov, 2023Our Real Wedding
Tom and I were walking in the lanes in Brighton and we were looking in some jewellery shop windows, I came across the most beautiful teardrop diamond ring and pointed it out, little did I know Tom secretly went back to purchase the ring. It would be a while before Tom got to propose though, as Covid stopped him in his tracks, it was meant to be Croatia, then Edinburgh but both got cancelled, and finally, Tom decided that he couldn't wait any longer.
We were in a Christmas Igloo having a meal for my birthday on 23rd December 2020, just the two of us. Last Christmas by Wham was playing when he got down on one knee - it was magical. It was pouring down with rain and we were in another lockdown but we wouldn't have it any other way.
Very early on we knew we wanted to have a winter wedding, 30th November 2023 seemed like the perfect date, the excitement for Christmas is building and everything is feeling festive, plus our guests get to wake up the next day and open their advent!

The theme for our wedding was festive glamour, we wanted a subtle nod to Christmas. We opted for a colour palette that reflected the winter vibe, deep burgundy, forest green, and blush pinks with accents of gold. Scenting our wedding was important to us, aroma plays a big part in our memories. We used our favourite scent Winter by White Company, we had candles and room spray, the venue smelt like a Christmas dream.
Our florals were in keeping with our colour palette and were wild and free-flowing, the neutral ceremony room was given an uplift by the pops of colour in the asymmetric arch and the four floral meadows adorning the aisle. We had beautiful centrepieces in gold vessels at the wedding breakfast and for the long-top table we had bud vases. We utilised our florals from the ceremony and they were placed by the cake and our top table. I had a winter bouquet with our colour palette and a velvet ribbon finished it off, the bridesmaids had foliage only so their deep burgundy dresses stood out.
We wanted lots of candlelight throughout the venue, we opted for pillar candles in hurricane vases, scented tea lights in mirror gold holders and tapered candles in glass chimneys at the wedding breakfast. The tables were accented by gold cutlery, blush pink runners and deep burgundy linen, along with our gold framed table names, in the theme of winter florals. For favours, we decided to donate to a charity close to our hearts. We had burgundy and gold foil cards made, along with pin badges - this added a very personal touch to our day.
Our cake was three delicious layers consisting of Vanilla & Lotus, Raspberry & White Chocolate and Cinnamon and Pecan topped with burgundy buttercream, white chocolate ganache and decorated with gold leaf and a cascade of florals.
We wanted a fun energy and for our guests to be entertained, especially in the evening. We opted for a Gold Sequin Photobooth, Audio Guestbook, Star Lit Dancefloor, Band and Sparklers. These helped to get the party started! After our cake-cutting and first dance I changed out of my wedding dress into a sparkly Nadine Merabi jumpsuit and danced the night away.
There is no real favourite moment for us, the whole day from start to finish was a dream come true. We cried, we laughed, and we partied with our favourite people until the lights came on, hand in hand as husband and wife!
