Our Real Wedding

We had a registry office ceremony that took place in a lovely little room in the Guildhall with our immediate family and close friends. We then travelled to the nearby Grangewood Residents Club (Grade II listed barn) where other family and friends joined us an hour or two later. It was a very hot day, but luckily the Residents Club is surrounded by mature trees so there was plenty of shade and everyone commented on how much they liked it (and the drink prices!). It was an informal reception with Manjula Catering providing some tasty vegan food from their van and we had a tree themed cake and three different flavours of cupcake from The Vegan Bake Away for later. We ordered pizzas for the kids.My bridal car was booked as a surprise from my parents which took us to the first venue and even stopped off at my MIL’s on the way to the second so that we could take a picture with our dog. Another surprise was a caricaturist which meant lots of guests got to take a fun drawing of themselves home with them. I think my parents knew we were keeping things simple so just wanted to make it even more memorable.The music was just a playlist that my husband and I created with suggestions from guests in advance and then played through Bluetooth speakers provided by Residents Club. They were so helpful as they literally set up everything on the day. All I had to do was drop off the decorations I had made and some flowers a couple of days before and they put it all out like we suggested and cut and served the cake for us. Considering they were paid next to nothing as our MIL is a resident so it was a special rate to hire the club for the afternoon/evening. They even offered to sort food but we sourced that due to the dietary requirement.We had fun having some photos taken on my step-father’s motorbike and after the day we received lots of comments from friends and family as to how relaxed it was and that they had a good time. We certainly wouldn’t have changed a thing!
