Whether you’re looking for that ultra cinched look, or love the romance of a traditional wedding dress shape, corset and corset back wedding dresses are so versatile for whatever your W-day style is.

Corset and bustier wedding dresses are often designed with a boned, structured bodice that creates a really cinched silhouette for whoever wears it. On the other hand, laced back corset bridal gowns are known to have a V-panel at the back of the dress which is then laced up using a fabric tie.

Both lace up and corset top wedding dresses are often favoured over other classic bridal silhouettes because of the structure and shape they help to create. If you're into more of a whimsical look, however, we've also found a number of more modern corset style wedding dresses that have paired themselves beautifully with more flowing and romantic silhouettes.

The 23 Most Beautiful Corset & Corset Back Wedding Dresses

Our round up of corset and bustier wedding dresses include whimsy romantic styles, structured sexy wedding dresses as well as striking black corset wedding dresses for those who want an alternative chic look.

As well as gorgeous fashion inspiration, we also have expert advice from Abi Neill, owner of Abigail's Collection, on how to lace up a corset back wedding dress (it's not as straightforward as it may seem...) and whether or not you can wear a corset wedding dress when you're pregnant.

Corset and Corset Back Wedding Dresses

Whether it's a modern corset bustier wedding dress you're after, or you're more into your lace up corset wedding dresses, these stunning styles will leave you completely spoiled for choice!

1. Chloe Corset Back Ballgown With Illusion Neckline - £840, Olivia Bottega

Olivia Bottega Chloe ballgown corset wedding dress with lace back and leg slit at the front

Effortlessly stylish and chic is the Chloe design from Olivia Bottega. Featuring both a buttoned back and a lace-up corset, this satin wedding dress has a unique detail around every corner. The combination of detail makes the back of the dress the star of the show - but the beauty doesn’t end there.

The front of this corset wedding dress features a pleated leg slit and asymmetrical pleated bodice, along with a pearl-encrusted illusion neckline and invisible hems. If it’s modern, unique and stylish you’re after, this is the wedding dress for you.

Sizing: UK 2 - UK 24

Pros & Cons: There is so much detail on this pearl wedding dress which we absolutely love and it also has corset boning to ensure you feel extra secure. If you’d prefer a more simplistic look, the pearl bolero can be removed to simplify the look or to even give you two different wedding day styles.

Sizing: Dependent on Stockists

Pros & Cons: If you’re inspired by celebrity wedding dresses, you’ll know that this matching wedding veil gives off serious Nicola Peltz-Beckham vibes, but if the style is too classic for you, you could always pair it with a bridal jacket or wedding coat to jazz it up a bit.

3. Priscilla Corset-Back Ballgown Wedding Dress - £1,592.20, Olivia Bottega

Olivia Bottega Classic Mikado Ball Gown Priscilla design with huge skirt and corset back

Drama is the word that comes to mind when we swoon over the Priscilla dress. The ballgown silhouette and voluminous skirt contrasts perfectly with the structured bodice and cinched waistline.

Because the fabric is so classic and simple, you can really afford to go big on the shape and that’s exactly what the team at Olivia Bottega have done here. The back of this corset wedding dress features a scoop back and lace-up corset.

Sizing: UK 2 - UK 34

Pros & Cons: This dress has six 5-star reviews and is available to buy online with customisation and custom sizing available. 4. Style 4957 Corset Wedding Dress With Lace Panel - Approx £5,630, Pnina Tornai

Pnina Tornai Style 4975 lace corset bodice wedding dress with leg slit

If it’s a sexy off the shoulder wedding dress you’re after, this design by Pnina Tornai is a real contender. The exposed boning in the bustier is a striking contrast to the soft lace used for the corset, sleeves and the gorgeous exposed panel in the skirt. The combination of lace and satin is a classic one, but it’s been put together in such a unique way in this design.

Sizing: UK 6 - UK 40

Pros & Cons: Dresses with a leg slit are particularly flattering for those after a petite wedding dress as the exposed leg can give the illusion that you are taller. Though this dress is available in a broad range of styles, brides with a larger bust may feel too exposed with such an extreme neckline.

Olivia Bottega sparkling a-line Coral wedding dress with mini corset back

This magical corset wedding dress from Olivia Bottega is made from lace macramé, glitter tulle and corset boning. We’re completely obsessed with the sparkle that the Coral dress exudes, it’s so eye-catching and unique.

On the bustier, there is scalloped lace detailing that we’ve never quite seen before on another gown, and this detail travels up the straps and down to the back of the bodice - it’s just stunning!

Sizing: UK 2 - UK 24

Pros & Cons: We love the contrast between the structure of the bodice, and the cascading freedom of the skirt, but if you want a more whimsical overall look, you can wear the straps off the shoulder. It’s available in a blush or light ivory.

Sizing: UK 6 - UK 40

Pros & Cons: We adore wedding dresses with bows, but if you’re not keen on keeping them all, you can always ask a seamstress to remove one or two, or move them to the back of the dress to keep the front looking more minimalist.

The great thing about a dress as well designed as this one, is that you can rock multiple looks on your wedding day. The gloves and dramatic sleeve cuffs have just the right amount of drama for your ceremony, and you can then remove them later on for a more chic wedding reception look.

What's the Difference Between a Corset Bodice and a Corset Back Wedding Dress?

Abi Neill, bridalwear expert and owner of Abigail's Collection explains, "A corset back wedding dress refers to the criss-cross loop and lace method of doing up the back of a wedding dress whereas a corset bodice was, and is traditionally a bodice worn often for shaping and enhancing a waist."

How to Lace Up a Corset Back Wedding Dress?

How you lace up a corset back wedding dress will always depend on the design as some corset backs are much longer than others. Here’s a video which shows you how to perfectly lace up one of the longer corset back wedding dresses to ensure an even amount of tie on each end!

It's not just technicalities you need to think about, Abi advises that you: "Allow plenty of time on the wedding day so there is less pressure and ask whomever is corseting you in to practice with the dress on the hanger so they know what to expect. Often your wedding dress boutique will teach you how to do this and you can always google it if there are any wobbles on the day about how to do it."

As well as leaving plenty of time, here are Abi's top tips for lacing up a corset wedding dress:

  • Starting at the top set of loops, thread the end through one loop and over to the other loop, go through it and out towards you. Once threaded ensure the ends are equal lengths.
  • Taking one end at a time, thread the corset tie to the opposite loop (next one down).  It’s a lot like doing up shoelaces!
  • Continue down the whole corset back.
  • Once threaded, ensure the laces are flat and not twisted.
  • Pull the slack through and tighten the lacing down the corset back.
  • At the bottom, tie in a neat small knot and tuck in.  I wouldn't advise leaving a bow on the bum at the bottom as this can look untidy.

Can You Wear a Corset Wedding Dress When Pregnant?

Lots of people feel concerned that corset and corset back wedding dresses are too tight and could potentially hurt you if you are pregnant.

Abi says, "Corset back wedding dresses are waist defining and they can really pull you in, depending on how tightly they are threaded.  Anatomically speaking it wouldn’t be the most sensible for a pregnant bride to wear a tightly corseted dress.

"If it’s waist or figure definition that a pregnant bride is looking for, I’d suggest opting for an empire line or a line cut gown which may help enhance the figure without the tightness of a corset and will certainly be more comfortable for a pregnant person."
