Lady Kitty Spencer

Princess Diana's niece, Lady Kitty Spencer, took the baton for iconic wedding dresses and she RAN with it. She served multiple looks on her wedding day, which of course you would if you were her, and our favourite has to be this floral Dolce & Gabbana dress. It was decorated with hand-painted flowers and crystals, and painted columns inspired by her grand Italian wedding setting. 

Emily Ratajkowski

Actress and model Emily Ratajkowski married film producer Sebastian Bear-McClard after a whirlwind romance in 2018 - but all everyone wanted to talk about was her incredible mustard-hued bridal suit, which she paired with a wide-brimmed black hat. So. CHIC.

Marilyn Monroe

When you think of Marilyn Monroe, it’s likely that you think of her in her iconic white, pleated dress. However, she chose a less conventional bridal look for her second wedding, which was an elopement with baseball player Joe DiMaggio. 

The Hollywood star opted for a brown suit with a fur collar for her wedding to Joe. The couple went on to divorce 274 days later, however after her death, DiMaggio had fresh flowers delivered twice a week to her grave until his death more than 30 years later. 

Elizabeth Taylor

The iconic Elizabeth Taylor actually gets three entries in this feature, due to her repeated commitment to a non-white wedding dress! The actress married eight times in her life - twice of those to her frequent co-star Richard Burton. 

For her first wedding to Richard Burton in March 1964, she chose a yellow babydoll dress, complete with an elaborate floral headdress. 

Before marrying Burton, she married Eddie Fisher in Las Vegas in 1959 and wore a sleek dark green ensemble for the ceremony at Temple Beth Shalom.

When Elizabeth Taylor remarried Richard Burton, she chose one of the most unique wedding dresses we’ve ever seen - a rainbow, ombre kaftan embroidered with feathers, pictured above displayed at ‘The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor’ at auction house Christie’s in 2011.

Audrey Hepburn

Everyone knows Audrey Hepburn’s famous wedding quote: “If I get married, I want to be very married.” But despite having a very traditional outlook on marriage, she was less traditional when it came to her wedding dress! The actress chose a stylish pink skirt suit for her wedding to Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti, for their January wedding. It was her second marriage, and the outfit was designed by Givenchy, who created her iconic LBD from her most famous film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Did you really expect the Sex and the City actress to go for a traditional white wedding dress? Sarah Jessica Parker channelled her inner Carrie Bradshaw when it came to choosing her dress for her wedding to fellow actor Matthew Broderick - she chose a dramatic black wedding gown for the celebrations. 

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani married her first husband Gavin Rossdale at St Paul’s Cathedral in Covent Garden, wearing a silk Christian Dior gown complete with a hot pink dip-dyed hem. She later married Blake Shelton, and chose a statement mini dress for that wedding!

Julianne Moore

Actress Julianne Moore married Bart Freundlich in New York in a fabulous lilac Prada dress. She paired the daring sheer sheath dress with a pair of contrasting green heels. 

Chiara Ferragni

Chiara Ferragni had not one, not two, but three wedding dresses when she married Italian rapper Fedez in September 2018. The model and entrepreneur worked with Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director at Dior, to create the gowns, which included a more modest and traditional wedding dress for the ceremony, as well as two reception dresses which were perfect for partying in!

Kaley Cuoco

Pink is a popular colour of wedding dress for celebrity brides! Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco opted for a lavish pink wedding dress for her New Year’s Eve wedding to tennis pro Ryan Sweeting. 

Keira Knightley

British actress Keira Knightley was well ahead of the 2022 wedding trend of sustainable wedding fashion. She chose to re-wear a blush-pink Chanel dress for her wedding to musician James Righton. She’s pictured above wearing her wedding dress to an event in London in 2013, about six months after the big day. 

Kristen Bell

The Good Place actress Kristen Bell chose to rock a wedding jumpsuit for her marriage to Dax Shepard. The couple had a low-key courthouse wedding after Kristen proposed to Dax, and she said her vows in a sleek black all-in-one outfit.

Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore looked every part the classic pop princess in her pink wedding gown. She worked with fashion house Rodarte to create the custom dress, which featured tiered layers of soft pink tulle. 

Priyanka Chopra 

Priyanka Chopra had a range of wedding dresses and outfits to wear during her wedding to Nick Jonas. The celebrations spanned five days, so it’s only natural the bride would need a few costume changes! One of her pre-wedding looks included a multicoloured dress by Indian Designer Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for the pre-wedding mehendi ceremony. She also wore a sparkling red lehenga by another Indian designer, Sabyasachi, for part of the festivities and a blue and gold strapless dress for a reception with family at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai, as well as several other gorgeous outfits. 

Chloe Sevigny

Chloe Sevigny chose a figure-hugging black dress for her secret wedding to Siniša Mačković. The couple, who share a son together, kept the marriage secret for a year, revealing it only when Chloe posted a throwback of her unusual wedding look to mark their one year anniversary.

Dita Von Teese

Nobody expected Dita Von Teese to rock a plain white wedding dress for her 2005 wedding to Marilyn Manson, did they? Her Vivienne Westwood designed gown, which was deep purple, was part of an exhibition about wedding dresses through the ages at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Alison Pill

Alison Pill went totally against tradition when she married Joshua Leonard, who you might recognise from the Blair Witch Project. She chose a sunshine-yellow dress for her wedding!

Agyness Deyn

Model Agyness Deyn opted for an unusual wedding dress - she chose a blush pink ombre gown designed by her friend, fashion designer Molly Goddard, who designed that famous pink dress worn by Villanelle in Killing Eve.

Victoria Beckham

Fun fact - Victoria Beckham loved using Hitched to plan her wedding so much, she chose a purple wedding dress to honour us...NOT. But she did prove that purple is a chic and stylish option for a wedding, right? She and husband David both changed in purple outfits on their wedding day.

Dianna Agron

Glee star Dianna Agron married Mumford and Sons banjoist Winston Marshall in an incredible three-day celebration in Morocco. The bride wore a rose-gold hued gown from Valentino that was rumoured to have cost around $20,000. Sadly, the couple later split after three years of marriage.

Shenae Grimes Beech

Canadian actress Shenae Grimes Beech chose a dramatic black Vera Wang wedding dress for her wedding to British model Josh Beech. The 90210 star accessorised with a deep red bouquet. 

Zosia Mamet

Zosia Mamet is another actress who chose to wear black on her wedding day! The Girls actress chose a black Givenchy dress for her wedding to fellow actor Evan Jonigkeit. 

Avril Lavigne

And last but not least...Avril Lavigne! The Sk8r Boi singer opted for a classic bridal gown for her first wedding, but when she married fellow Canadian rocker Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, she chose a more edgy look. She wore a dramatic black Monique Lhullier wedding dress, complete with a lace trimmed veil.
