If you received a platinum engagement ring and are now looking for the perfect wedding band to accompany it, then you have come to the right place! Platinum is an excellent choice of wedding ring metal. It may be the most expensive of the metals but it is also the purest and very strong so it doesn’t need to be coated in Rhodium, which is why it has a lovely white colour.
Platinum is also hypoallergenic, meaning it doesn’t dent or scratch like other metals – in fact, as it wears it slowly fades to form a patina which is a sheen on the surface of the ring. You may notice with platinum that it will feel heavier on your finger than other metals such as gold and silver – this makes it feel like even more of a luxe choice.
We have put together a list of some of our favourite platinum wedding rings to suit a range of styles and budgets.
Cartier
Cartier has a selection of platinum rings available that range from a very simple 2mm band, to a full diamond wedding ring that will cost you £7,900.
If you want some sparkle on your wedding ring but your budget won’t stretch to a full diamond band, consider this ring with one simple diamond.
Ernest Jones
For a diamond band without the Cartier price tag, this stunning platinum ring from Ernest Jones is a more reasonable option with half a band of diamonds. It will look beautiful sat next to a diamond engagement ring or worn on its own.
Keep it simple with this 2mm platinum extra heavy ring, a classic choice that will never go out of style.
Clogau
The Freya Wedding Ring from Clogau gives a twist on the more traditional diamond bands. It’s a slightly chunkier ring with a cross over design, featuring a row of diamonds.
If you are looking for a plain platinum band but want something a little unusual, be creative with the shape. This ring has the unusual knife edge shape which is different and super contemporary.
Alexis Dove
For arty brides who are looking for something special Alexis Dove designs are a quirky, vintage style and are hand made in Sussex.
These diamond-lined bands have a soft, beaten texture and come in a range of finishes including platinum.
Harriet Kelsall Jewellery
The Harriet Kelsall half eternity ring has seven brilliant cut diamonds sat in a 3mm tapered band. The soft-edges give the ring a delicate finish.
LoveFineDiamonds
A great option for brides looking for a super delicate band is this platinum ring from LoveFineDiamond on Etsy with a bright polished finish and a half-rounded shape. Its simple design would work well against an ornate engagement ring but would also look really elegant worn on its own.
GoldlinksFineJewels
We love GoldlinksFineJewels' high-quality platinum pieces. This band is 2mm, making a stylish and sturdy wedding ring without being too heavy on the finger.
LockleyAndAshmore
If you want to go for a vintage ring, LockleyAndAshmore's vintage Art Nouveau-style ring has a beautiful floral design engraved into the narrow, platinum band.
Shakti Ellenwood
How beautiful is the Plantinum Honey Ring from Shakti Ellenwood? The hammered finish works perfectly on the halo shape, for simple ring that’s a bit different.
Alison Macleod
Add some texture with the Patterned Wedding Ring from Alison Macleod, which has two bands of dots and looks gorgeous worn with a solitaire engagement ring.
Lilia Nash Jewellery
If you’ve got an ethical engagement ring and are looking for a platinum wedding ring to match, opt for the ethical slim wedding ring from Lilia Nash Jewellery. The ring is made using recycled jewellery so is totally environmentally friendly!
Caring for Your Platinum Ring
As previously mentioned, platinum rings don’t tend to tarnish, but develop a patina finish. Whilst some people like this sheen, if you do want to restore it to it’s former glory, it can be easily removed with a quick polish. Make sure you remove your ring when gardening or using strong chemicals, like cleaning products – especially if they contain bleach. If you are taking your ring off, store it somewhere safe, preferably in it’s box. This will prevent it from getting scratched by other bits of jewellery and you will always know where it is! (If you’ve ever lost your ring, you’ll understand that heart-stopping feeling!)
