From movie stars and singers, to A-list socialites and footballer’s wives, the list of celebrities who have worn Vera Wang wedding dresses is pretty impressive. We’ve decided to take a look back at some of the most iconic celebrity Vera Wang wedding dresses and the famous brides who wore them.
We've got Vera Wang ballgowns, mermaid wedding dresses, simple wedding dresses by Vera and one celebrity bride who wore a whopping three gowns by the renowned designer! Vera Wang's custom celebrity wedding dresses include details such as sewing in pockets for a famous actress and embroidering a British actor's tattoo quote onto his bride's train. Read on for all the details...
1. Rochelle Humes - Mermaid Vera Wang Wedding Dress
Rochelle and Marvin Humes’ wedding made it onto our list of the most iconic weddings in the UK from the past 25 years, and her amazing Vera Wang dress may have had something to do with it…
Rochelle wore a strapless Vera Wang dress for her wedding, which had an elaborately ruffled skirt and a small train. She paired the stunning strapless wedding dress with a simple satin belt and a tiered veil with chic lining.
2. Ariana Grande - Slinky Vera Wang Wedding Dress
Ariana Grande’s simple wedding dress may just be one of our favourite Vera Wang celebrity looks *ever* - and can you blame us? The singer wore a chic and simple column ivory wedding dress paired with an oversized bow veil and her signature high ponytail. We love the corset detail on the bust - corset wedding dresses are so in right now, and the bow detail is also on trend.
3. Sabrina Dhowre - Personalised Vera Wang Wedding Dress
Idris Elba married wife Sabrina Dhowre in a romantic three-day Marrakesh celebration in 2019, and their wedding was featured exclusively by British Vogue - how fancy!
Sabrina wore a custom-made Vera Wang wedding dress which was every inch fitting to the luxurious vibe of the wedding. Speaking to Vogue, Vera said, “Sabrina and I spoke on the phone first, in January, and we immediately had a special connection.”
Sabrina initially wanted something dramatic and big, but Vera Wang’s more simplistic design won her over. Speaking on the details, Vera told Vogue, “When she asked me to have Idris’ arm tattoo embroidered at the bottom of the train, I knew I was dealing with a very special woman, totally in love. It was her personal tribute to Idris.”
The cuteness is too much - we love Vera’s ability to personalise her designs, and Sabrina’s vision was just so romantic. One of our favourite Vera Wang wedding gowns for sure!
4. Sarah Hyland - Vera Wang Wedding Dress With Pockets
Why wear one Vera Wang wedding dress when you can wear two? And that’s exactly what Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland did on her wedding day. Sarah worked with the team at Vera Wang to design both dresses. The first was designed to fit the aesthetic of a French chateau with Italian castle features - easy, right?
As well as being specific on the aesthetic, Sarah also asked the team to sew in pockets so she could carry a handkerchief and cotton buds - how practical. We do love a wedding dress with pockets! Her wedding reception dress, also Vera Wang, had more of an evening gown silhouette but was every bit as gorgeous as the first.
5. Gwen Stefani - Short Vera Wang Wedding Dress
Like Sarah Hyland, Gwen Stefani also wore two Vera Wang wedding dresses to her Fourth of July wedding weekend. For her trip down the aisle, Gwen wore a stunning silk wedding dress which paired a fitted bodice with a tulle skirt - this look was styled with a veil that had her name embroidered into it, a detail we absolutely love!
In true Gwen style, the singer and judge donned an edgier, short wedding dress for her reception, and paired it with a country-style white stiletto boot and a shorter veil. Certainly an iconic wedding dress of celebrities and totally deserving of a place in this VW hall of fame!
6. Hailey Bieber - Vera Wang Reception Dress
Speaking of embroidered veils, who can forget the iconic ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ veil that Hailey Baldwin wore when she married Justin Bieber? We’re still not over it. Just like we’re not over the fact that the supermodel changed into the coolest wedding trainers to complement her wedding reception gown by non-other than legendary wedding dress designer Vera Wang.
7. Vanessa Hudgens - Vera Wang Bias Cut Slip Dress
One of the most recent celebrity brides to wear Vera Wang for their wedding was former High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. Marrying professional baseball player Cole Tucker in an outdoor jungle wedding in Tulum, Mexico, she had not one, but TWO Vera Wang wedding dresses for the occasion!
The first was a chic, simple bias-cut gown with a rippling cowl neck and plunging back worn with a personalised tulle veil for the ceremony. After dinner, Vanessa changed into her second VW design, a sexy strapless dress with a lace corset-style bodice and super sheer chiffon skirt, perfect for partying the night away. We do love a second wedding dress look!
8. Victoria Beckham - Iconic Vera Wang Wedding Dress
Speaking of style icons, who could forget Victoria Beckham’s strapless corset wedding dress designed by Vera Wang. Victoria and David married in an elaborate wedding ceremony back in 1999 and set the bar extremely high for celebrity weddings across the globe.
Victoria donned the champagne-coloured Vera Wang wedding dress for her ceremony before she and David changed into matching purple outfits. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we love a bit of purple here at Hitched.
9. Mariah Carey - Royalty-Inspired Vera Wang Dress
Mariah Carey wore a voluminous Vera Wang wedding dress when she married her first husband in 1993. In a recent interview with Page Six about her three most iconic celebrity wedding dresses, Vera Wang said that Princess Diana’s 1981 wedding dress very much influenced Mariah’s wedding dress.
There’s no doubt that Princess Diana was a style icon, and her royal wedding dress was one that everyone has ingrained in their minds, and it’s incredible to know that her look has inspired celebrity designers like Vera Wang and, no doubt, many more.
10. Chrissy Teigen - Three Vera Wang Dresses
If you think Gwen and Sarah were extra with their two Vera Wang wedding dresses, Chrissy Teigen's bridal attire may leave your jaw on the floor. The wife of singer John Legend wore a whopping three Vera Wang wedding dresses during her Italian celebrations.
Each of the designer wedding gowns had a distinct look and feel. The first was a princess ballgown with a dramatic tulle skirt and plunging corset bodice. The second was a strapless mermaid wedding dress which she wore to her reception.
Chrissy finished the night at the wedding after party in an eye-catching red mermaid gown with a ruffled tulle skirt, similar to the one on Rochelle Humes’ wedding dress.
11. Lisa Rinna - Timeless Vera Wang Wedding Dress
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills royalty Lisa Rinna has been married to husband Harry Hamlin for more than 25 years. The reality star wore a slinky Vera Wang wedding dress with spaghetti straps, and despite the fact that the wedding took place a fair few years ago, trend-setter Lisa wore a simple wedding dress that could pass as a modern-day design today!
12. Lily Aldridge - Lace Vera Wang Wedding Dress
Being a top model for Victoria’s Secret, it’s no surprise that Lily Aldridge looked incredible on her wedding day in a custom-made Vera Wang wedding dress.
The model married Kings of Leon singer Caleb Followill, wearing a strapless wedding dress adorned with Chantilly and corded lace applique. It had timeless chiffon detailing at the back and was paired with a simple veil and natural hair and makeup.
13. Alicia Keys - Beachy Vera Wang Dress
We couldn't include Vera Wang wedding dresses of celebrities without including singing sensation Alicia Keys, who wore a stylish asymmetrical VW wedding gown in a soft flowing silk georgette fabric for her big day.
She and her husband, Swizz Beatz, recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary, and both took to social media to gush about their long-lasting love.
In a playful Instagram post showing the couple playing a game of 'him or her', Alicia wrote: " Happy Anniversary my love!!!!! Woooowwww!! 13 years but it feels like 5 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
"There are no amount of words that could describe how grateful we are!!! Our life together is crazy/ fun/ real/ beautiful/ Deep/ unique/ special! One of one!!!
"I adore you! 👑👑👑👑👑👑"
14. Kaley Cuoco - Pink Vera Wang Wedding Dress
We’ll never forget the fashion statement Kaley Cuoco made when she wore a pink wedding dress to her nuptials back in 2014. The show-stopping pink Vera Wang wedding dress was made up of layers upon layers of elaborate pink tulle and had a classic corset bodice.
The couple may not be together anymore, but it’s got to have been worth it for the dress alone? We love celebrity brides who don’t wear white and opt for colourful wedding dresses - it just shows that not all wedding traditions need to be followed.
15. Shenae Grimes - Black Vera Wang Wedding Dress
90210 actress Shenae Grimes married her now-husband Josh Beech back in 2013. Shenae edged away from tradition in a striking black wedding dress by Vera Wang, which consisted of a lace halterneck bodice and a voluminous black and grey tulle skirt.
16. Kate Hudson - Vera Wang Bride Wars Dress
Okay, so it may not have been her actual wedding, but as we said before, we’re still obsessing over the insanely pretty Vera Wang wedding dress that Kate Hudson wore in the hit rom-com Bride Wars. Kate depicted a strong-minded bride who was planning a wedding at the same time as bestie Anne Hathaway (well, her character anyway). It's one of our fave wedding films.
17. Khloe Kardashian - Vera Wang Mermaid Dress
Though pictures are hard to come by these days, we still have the image of Khloe Kardashian’s Vera Wang gown ingrained in our memories. The reality star wore a classic Vera Wang wedding dress at her wedding to ex-husband Lamar Odom. The dress consisted of a bodycon ruched bodice with romantic ruffled skirt and a satin jewelled belt.
18. Kim Kardashian - Vera Wang Ball Gown Dress
When Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries in 2011, she wore a ballgown Vera Wang wedding dress with a corset bodice and huge tulle skirt. Though the marriage only lasted 72 days, the image of that dress will never fade as one of the most memorable Vera Wang wedding gowns.
How Much Does a Vera Wang Wedding Dress Cost?
After viewing all these stylish celebs rocking their Vera Wang dresses, you’ve likely developed a crush on the famous bridal designer yourself. And so, the question you want to know the answer to now is: “How much are Vera Wang wedding dresses?”.
Well, the good news is there’s a Vera Wang option for pretty much everyone. So, while her custom haute couture and ‘Luxe Collection’ gowns can range from anything between £5,000 to £20,000+ depending on fabrics, detailing and the intricacy of the designs, her mainline bridal collection starts at £2,000+.
The leading designer has also recently joined forces with top Spanish design house Pronovias to create the Vera Wang Bride brand, crafting to-die-for gowns ranging from around £1,500 to £4,000. Allowing more people to experience the joy of her couture approach but without the quite-so-hefty price tag, Vera Wang's signature design details are evident throughout the collection.
We’re talking fashionably cool dresses with decorative flourishes, striking necklines, slanted tiers, and romantic ruffles for days!
Still feel the Vera Wang wedding dress price range is out of budget? Then, there’s always the option of a second-hand wedding dress by Wang from a pre-loved bridal boutique or online site. Or, if you’re fortunate enough, you might find a Vera Wang wedding gown price tag to suit your pocket by looking out for sample sales at boutiques that stock her designs.
