After you’ve sorted out your wedding budget and looked into Scottish marriage laws, you can move onto finding the perfect Isle of Skye wedding venue for your ‘I dos’. Lucky for you, the region has a few drop-dead gorgeous spots to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a castle, a stunning outdoor space with rolling hills and views of the water or a quaint hotel worthy of your elopement, you’ve got options.
Here’s are a few stunning Isle of Skye wedding venues.
Dunvegan Castle
Want to feel like total royalty on your big day? Well, Dunvegan Castle might just be the Isle of Skye wedding venue for you. It’s one of the most historic Hebridean castles and is the only of its kind to have been occupied by the same family for 800 years (so it’s got some pretty cool roots). On your wedding day, you can make use of both its 18th-century Drawing Room, North Room, Main Entrance Hall, Dining Room and the adjoining Library. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to be surrounded by flora and fauna, you can bring your celebration outdoors into one of its gardens. The maximum capacity here is 65 people, so you’ll want to keep your guest list short and sweet.
Eilean Donan Castle
Located on the mainland in Dornie with views of the Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle is one of Scotland’s most iconic castles and offers an absolutely stunning backdrop for your big day complete with mountains, forests and lochs. Worried about everything coming together? Its staff will help you plan all the details of your wedding, from your ceremony in the Banqueting Hall (or in the courtyard, if the weather is nice) to your drinks reception in the Billeting Room, so you can pull off the perfect celebration without getting too stressed. It can accommodate groups of up to 70 people, so don’t go too overboard with your invites.
Skeabost Hotel
If you’ve been dreaming of hosting a hotel wedding, the Skeabost Hotel should definitely be on your list of places to check out. It has awesome amenities, like an 18-hole golf course - perfect for working off some of that pre-wedding stress - and beautiful accommodations for you and your guests. You can tie the knot inside the hotel (which can fit up to 90 seated guests) or a marquee on the grounds (which can fit up to 150 guests).
Duisdale House Hotel
The Duisdale House Hotel is another awesome option for couples who want built-in accommodations with their Isle of Skye wedding venue. It was initially built as a hunting lodge in 1865 but has been transformed into a gorgeous hotel with seaside, garden and woodland wedding backdrops. If your celebration is going to be on the smaller side (60 guests or less) you can tie the knot within the hotel. On the other hand, if you’re planning a larger affair, you can move it outside to a garden marquee (which can accommodate up to 150 guests).
Toravaig House Hotel
Last but not least in the Isle of Skye’s trifecta of amazing hotel venues is Toravaig House Hotel. It’s the smallest of the three, with only nine rooms available to guests. You and your partner will get to exchange vows on the garden deck and then move inside to celebrate in the hotel restaurant. It can only accommodate up to 26 people for a wedding, so stick to inviting your nearest and dearest.
The great outdoors
If you’re eloping or having an intimate ceremony, consider hosting your Isle of Skye wedding in the great outdoors. The area has no shortage of picturesque spots, but some of our favourites are Fairy Glen, Talisker Beach, Old Man of Storr and Elgol. Remember, while you can probably have your ceremony at one of these epic locations (providing the weather is nice), you’ll want to book an indoor event space so that you can party in style until the sun comes up.
