Bridesmaid Flowers: 35 Inspiring Ideas

Looking for the perfect bridesmaid flowers? Here’s everything you need to know before you begin searching for your bridesmaid's blooms

After you've sorted your own wedding flowers, bridesmaid flowers should be the next thing on your list!

Bridesmaid flowers - and all the flowers for your wedding party, require just as much thought as your own wedding bouquet. Bridesmaids flowers are especially useful for the walking down the aisle moment (what else would they do with their hands?) and for photo opportunities - you can also repurpose them for your wedding decor too.

Whilst a bridesmaid flower bouquet remains a popular choice, you can opt for a bridesmaid flower crown, bridesmaid hair flowers, a bridesmaid corsage or even an alternative bridesmaid bouquet if you are searching for something a little bit different - and all these options can be reworked to suit your wedding party needs.

Amidst all the decisions involved in wedding planning, when it comes to organising your bridesmaid flowers it can be difficult to know where to begin.

Although you may be struggling to choose between a bridesmaid flowers hoop, a bridesmaid wrist corsage or a single flower bouquet, it’s also vital that you firstly find the perfect florist who will be able to bring your unique vision to life.

That’s why we’ve put together this ultimate guide to bridesmaid flowers featuring an array of our best floral vendors that is sure to provide inspiration in abundance for your bridesmaid bouquets!

Bridesmaid Flower Bouquets

If you love the traditional look, a bridesmaid flower bouquet may just be the perfect choice for your bridesmaid flowers.

Usually inspired by the nearlywed's bouquet, bridesmaid flower bouquets are also designed to complement your overall colour theme as well as your bridesmaids’ dresses, so this is something particularly important to think about.

In the past, the default option for bridesmaid flowers was a single flower bouquet of classic roses or peonies, however now nearlyweds are taking a more experimental approach, combining conventional blossoms with greenery and unique elements to create a more contemporary look.

Whether you are envisioning vibrant hues, seasonal tones or an assortment of branches or vines, you can work with your florist to design the perfect, personalised bridesmaid flower bouquets.

Here are some of our favourite bridesmaid flower bouquet arrangements to inspire you.

1. Pastel Bridesmaid Bouquets - Sally Gill Flowers

A popular option for bridesmaid bouquets is to have smaller versions of the main wedding bouquet, like these pastel bridesmaid bouquets by Sally Gill.

These beautiful pastel bridesmaid flower bouquets complement the bride's bouquet perfectly. White bridesmaid bouquets are a timeless trend - this one has been given an update by the gentle inclusion of a few pastel blooms to match the bridesmaid dresses.

Bride and bridesmaids holding bouquets - the bridesmaid bouquets consist of a single large flower surrounded by greenery

A really cost-effective option when it comes to bridesmaid bouquets, is to give them a single flower. However, this doesn't always fit in with your wedding flower designs, so we love this take on it by Lilia Rose Floral Design Ltd

Each bridesmaid has one large single flower, but it's made into more of a bouquet with additional greenery - leaving them with lovely bouquets, but ensuring the bride's one is still centre stage. It's also a great option if you love the trend for white bridesmaid bouquets but want to put a twist on it.

Bridesmaid Corsages

Whether they’re worn on your wrist or outfit – or even as a mini version pinned in your hair – a  bridesmaid corsage doesn’t need to be carried, so they are a perfect choice if you want your bridesmaids to feel totally free on your big day!

Plus, if you have lots of people in your wedding party, a bridesmaid corsage is a much more affordable yet equally beautiful option in comparison to a traditional bridesmaid flower bouquet, so they are a definite win/win!

A corsage is also a great option if you want a more inclusive take on your wedding flowers, particularly if not everyone in your wedding party wants to hold a bouquet.

Originating in the Victorian era, bridesmaid corsages are a great way of including your favourite blooms in your big day, but in a less conventional way than a traditional flower bouquet.

That being said, here are three of our favourite bridesmaid corsage designs that you should definitely consider for your nearlywed squad!

Your Bridesmaid Flower Questions Answered

Want to hear some expert tips from one of the best in the business? We asked coveted wedding florist Catherine Syed at Oakwood Flowers about all things bridesmaids blooms:

Do Bridesmaids Need Flowers?

"I personally feel that bridesmaids do need flowers because if they do not have something to hold when walking down the aisle it is difficult to know what to do with your hands and can look quite awkward. I think it is lovely when bridesmaids have smaller versions of the bridal bouquet because it looks very cohesive, especially in the photographs," says Catherine.

"But even if they just have a few flowers to hold or a bouquet of gypsophila, if the budget can't stretch far enough for smaller versions of the bridal bouquet, then I think this works equally as well."

Do Bridesmaids Buy Their Own Flowers?

"I think it is uncommon for bridesmaids to pay for their own flowers as it is the couples choice whether the bridesmaids will have flowers or not, bridesmaid bouquets can be placed in vases to be used as extra decoration around the venue after the ceremony has finished so the couple will get value for money by doing this," Catherine explains.

"Unlike a bridesmaid dress or shoes which can be reused or sold on after the wedding by the bridesmaids, there obviously isn't anything that can be done with the flowers afterwards therefore personally I feel it may be unfair to expect bridesmaids to pay for their flowers themselves."
