Your honeymoon should be the most romantic and memorable holiday of your life. Not only is it for relaxing to the max, but also for enjoying unforgettable experiences.
Here at Hitched, we’ve fallen in love with Jamaica as a breath-taking honeymoon destination – not least because of the things you can do when you get there.
Whether you’re an adventure-loving couple eager to see the natural wonders of the island or you’d rather kick back and do nothing but sunbathe, there is plenty to get your teeth stuck into. The country also boasts an infectious and vibrant culture (and excellent rum, obviously). We think you’re going to love it.
From water sports to sunset cruises, here are the best experiences across the island of Jamaica which you’d be silly not to book in time for your honeymoon.
1. Have a Candlelit Dinner on the Beach
Is there anything more romantic than sitting on the beach to eat your dinner as the sun sets? When the beaches are as stunning as they are in Jamaica, we’d argue not.
This honeymoon experience will be a lovely opportunity for you and your new husband or wife to reflect on your wedding day and your honeymoon so far.
Hitched Recommends:
If you choose to stay at one of the seven Sandals Resorts on the island, having a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach is easy. In fact, you could have one every night of your holiday if you wanted to.
You and your other half can enjoy the very best in gourmet cuisine and wine, including a bottle of Ruffino Prosecco on a table specially decorated with tropical floral arrangements and candles. You’ll also be served by your very own private waiter in white gloves. This has got to be one of the best Jamaican honeymoon experiences out there…

2. Go on a Sunset Catamaran Cruise
Next up in our round-up of the best Jamaican honeymoon experiences is a sunset cruise aboard a catamaran. Even if you plan to laze around your resort for the rest of your honeymoon, getting onto the water for one evening of your trip is a lovely idea.
Whether you choose a relaxed sunset cruise or one with more of a party atmosphere, it’s sure to be a night you remember forever.
Hitched Recommends:
If you’re staying close to Montego Bay, set sail and take in the views of the coastline from the best seat in the house aboard the Island Routes Reggae Sunset Cruise.
After a quick stop for margaritas (they read our minds), you can marvel at the stunning sunset while enjoying tasty appetizers, signature cocktails and infectious local music played by the on-board DJ. There’s nothing quite like a Caribbean sunset to provide the backdrop to this party on water!
3. Stay in an Overwater Bungalow
If you really want to push the boat out on your Jamaican honeymoon, consider staying in an overwater bungalow – either for your entire holiday or just for one or two nights at the end. Doing so is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience which should be reserved for a holiday as special as your honeymoon is!
Hitched Recommends:
We’re huge fans of the overwater bungalows at Sandals Royal Caribbean. On arrival in Jamaica, you’ll be escorted to your bungalow from the main island on a private boat before being greeted by the dedicated bungalows team.
With every bungalow there’s an expansive patio (complete with bath tub), an overwater hammock, an outdoor shower room and further suspended patio with a swim-up platform. Oh, and inside the bungalow itself, there’s a glass floor that guarantees undersea views, plus a king-size bed and spa-style bathroom. The only problem with this experience is that you’ll never want it to be over…
4. Go on a Snorkelling Trip
Calling all lovers of the sea! A must-do activity on any honeymoon in Jamaica has got to be snorkelling. Snorkelling trips are available all around the island, allowing couples to experience the wonders of the Caribbean Sea.
Hitched Recommends:
If you’re holidaying at one of the Sandals Resorts, all snorkelling trips are included in the cost of your holiday. Lasting for one hour, they give you 30 minutes snorkelling in a beautiful coral reef close to your resort. Remember to take your underwater camera!
5. Visit Dunn’s River Falls
If you’re a couple seeking adventure on your honeymoon, a visit to Dunn’s River Falls has got to make it onto your experience shortlist. This natural wonder is beyond beautiful.
On your visit, you can clamber up magnificent tiers of limestone that stretch for 180 meters in a series of beautiful cascades and pools. Surrounded by rainforest and with fantastic views from the top, this is not a sight worth missing.
Hitched Recommends:
Island Routes run a Dunn’s River Falls tour. Prices start from 54 USD per person.

6. Have a Couple’s Massage
Having a couple’s massage is a lovely honeymoon experience, not least because it allows you some time to take the meaning of relaxation to a whole new level. We’d have one every day of our holiday if we could…
Hitched Recommends:
One of the biggest must-dos on any Jamaican honeymoon is a visit to a Red Lane® Spa. They’re located at every one of the island’s Sandals Resorts and are perfect if you’re in the market for some serious pampering.
Luckily, you won’t even have to part with your new husband or wife for your treatment, because all six of Jamaica’s Sandals Resorts offer a spectacularly good Scents of Love Couples Massage. You’ll both be treated to an aromatherapy massage surrounded by fragrant candles. We already feel relaxed at the thought!
The full body scrub is equally as luxurious (we’re speaking from experience) if you’d rather have some alone time, and if you didn’t have time to get a facial or your nails done before jetting off, Red Lane Spa will be on hand to help. The perfect pre-dinner on the beach activity, don’t you think?
7. Try Your Hand at Water Sports
What better place to try your hand at water sports than the Caribbean? In Jamaica, there are endless options when it comes to water sports, including kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, tubing, scuba-diving and more.
Hitched Recommends:
If you’re staying at one of the island’s six Sandal’s Resorts, water sports are included in your package, so you won’t have to spend a penny on arrival.
Oh, and if you don’t actually want to get into the water, there’s a glass-bottomed boat at both Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean. You can experience all the wonders of the Caribbean ocean without getting wet!
8. Enjoy an In-Suite Breakfast
Don’t fancy venturing out of bed for breakfast on your honeymoon? Who does? Your honeymoon is the best excuse to do next to nothing (we promise), so as simple of an experience as it is, dedicate a morning to eating breakfast from the comfort of your own room.
Hitched Recommends:
If you stay at a Sandals Resort, one of the best honeymoon experiences is enjoying eating breakfast from your very own king sized bed… Just wait until you see the room service menu!

9. Eat the Best Jerk Chicken, Like… Ever
What’s a honeymoon in Jamaica without tucking into endless jerk chicken? It’s the most well-known Jamaican dish to have been exported from the island, and it doesn’t get better than from a traditional Jamaican beach shack.
If you head off on a Jamaican honeymoon, you can try this blend of herbs, spices, hot peppers and pimento leaves at almost every turn. That said, there are a few spots which do it particularly well.
Oh, and make sure you try a side of festival. This sweet bread is one of Jamaica’s other fabulous delicacies.
Hitched Recommends:
Sweetwood Jerk Joint is conveniently located in Kingston and serves a mouth-watering selection of jerk meat and condiments.
If you’re not planning on leaving your resort, don’t worry. Those staying at one of Jamaica’s six Sandals Resorts will be able to enjoy a visit to pool-side jerk destination, Jerk Shack. Serving up everything from jerk sausage to roasted sweet potato, it’s a totally delicious lunchtime choice.
