Emma Willis is a showbiz heavyweight here in the UK, she's presented countless British programmes throughout her two decade-long career, but before we get into that, let's rewind.

Emma was born Emma Louise Griffiths in Birmingham in 1976. Her professional career began when she started modelling at age 15. This lead to her working with a range of retailers and magazines in her early career including GAP, Chanel, Marie Claire and Elle.

However it was in 2002 when she had her first big break in the presenting world. She got herself a job with MTV UK for a year, before moving onto present Total Request Live until 2005.

Emma Willis: News & TV Shows

Emma Willis became well-known to British viewers when she landed the gig presenting Big Brother's Big Mouth in 2005, and remained in the Big Brother family for years to come, presenting eight series of Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side, four series of the non-celebrity version, as well as landing the job of presenter for Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother between 2013 and 2018.

She has also presented a selection of household-favourite shows throughout her career, including I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Now!, Loose Women, This Morning, The Voice UK, The Circle (and it's celebrity counterpart), Comic Relief and The Brit Awards to name just a few.

She's arguably one of the most well-known TV presenters in the UK, but it's not just TV she's known for. When it comes to the accolades of Emma Willis, news platforms love her just as much as entertainment TV. The star has presented Sunday morning shows on Heart Network for six years between 2012 and 2018 - so, is there anything she can't do?

Just when we thought we'd exhausted the list of Emma Willis's talents, we remembered you can add midwife to the list of things she's brilliant at.

Perhaps one of her most famous shows is Emma Willis: Delivering Babies which began airing in 2018 and continues to film now. The documentary series saw Emma go behind the scenes and train as a midwife, giving viewers an insider-look into what really goes into delivering babies as a midwife in the UK.

She also took part in her husband Matt Willis's TV programme, Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction, which documented his battle with alcoholism and addiction - but more on that later.

Matt Willis is a British singer, songwriter and musician, born in Tooting, London, who is most well-known for co-founding and being a part of famous boy band Busted.

As well as being a musician and artist, his career highlights also include acting, presenting and much more.

He grew up between London and Surrey and, after being asked to leave his secondary school, joined the Sylvia Young Theatre School which he attended along with the likes of fellow stars such as McFly's Tom Fletcher, Blue's Lee Ryan, actress Billie Piper and the late singer Amy Winehouse.

Matt Willis first encountered fame in 2000 when he, alongside Charlie Simpson, and James Bourne formed pop-punk band Busted. The group co-wrote all their own songs, along with the help of Tom Fletcher from McFly (fun fact for you all!), and had a successful run winning two BRIT awards, releasing four albums and selling more than five million records worldwide.

The band parted ways in 2005, before announcing their comeback as McBusted (compromising of Matt Willis, James Bourne and the McFly boys) in 2015 and toured the year after.

In 2016, the original Busted group began releasing music again, and although Matt toyed with a solo career, the group are still touring together now in 2024.

Matt Willis TV Programme & Theatre Career

As well as music, Matt has also dabbled in the world of TV.

In 1998, he appeared in an episode of Eastenders as a teenager, and also featured in episodes of The Bill and Casualty in 2000.

In 2006, Matt took part in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here and won! He came first in his series alongside runners up Myleene Klass and actor Jason Donovan. Following his success on the show, he and now-wife Emma Willis presented the after show for the following two years.

In 2023, Matt Willis released a tv programme documentary which told the very raw story of his struggles with addition. The show outlined the pressure his battle with addition has put on his family and his wife Emma, and looks back at some of his toughest times, revisiting rehabilitation centres he's stayed in and his childhood home.

Here's everything we know about Emma and Matt Willis and their relationship, from the year they met, almost two decades ago, to present day as they begin a new presenting job together.

2004 - The First Meet

Matt and Emma Willis met for the first time in 2004. At the time, Matt had just released his second studio album with Busted, and Emma was presenting with MTV.

Emma and Matt began dating. At the time, Matt was spending time in and out of rehabilitation centres, as detailed in his documentary.

2007 - The Proposal

As the new hosts of Love is Blind UK, many fans have been asking 'how did Matt Willis propose to Emma?". Well, after two years of dating, the couple flew to Venice for a birthday treat for Emma and Matt proposed to her on a bridge in one of the most romantic cities in Europe.

He had intended on proposing to the Television presenter in a restaurant, but he was put off by fans singing Busted songs at a nearby table. So instead, he took Emma to the Rialto Bridge - one of the four oldest bridges spanning the canal - and popped the question.

We heard Emma's version of this story in August 2024, when the pair agreed to be interviewed on an episode of Newlyweds hosted by former Made in Chelsea stars, Jamie and Sophie Laing. The hosts were lucky enough to receive an exclusive insight into the proposal from Emma Willis. Confessions on this podcast aren't exactly uncommon, but the pair were shocked to hear that Emma was horrified when Matt proposed!

The TV presenter confessed that she stopped Matt from getting down on one knee in front of a group of people, and instead asked him to "go down there, because there's loads of people around and they're all going to look at us and oh my god how embarrassing”.

Emma corrected herself, explaining that she really meant to say, “not like don't propose, just how mortifyingly embarrassing, and then he opened the box, and the ring had flopped out of the little holder.

“I think if you're not stereotypically romantic staring into each other's... I mean, he stares at me all the time... That was our proposal.”

So there you have it, an unconventional - but still very romantic - proposal!

The blushing bride wore a stunning Phillipa Lepley tulle wedding dress with a thick waistband and V-neck, which she then re-wore ten years later when the couple renewed their vows.
