One of our favourite ever series of The Great British Bake Off has to be series 5. Remember when Iain tipped his Baked Alaska in the bin? And when Norman thought pesto was “exotic”?
Well, many of the cast reunited over the weekend to attend the wedding of the show’s youngest-ever contestant Martha Collison – and yes, they baked cakes.
Attending the wedding were winner Nancy Birtwhistle, finalist Richard Burr, Chetna Makan, Claire Goodwin, Iain Watters, Enwezor Nzegwu, Diana Beard and Kate Henry.
Chetna shared a photo of the whole gang of 2014 contestants, writing, “What a day!
“Having known @marthacollison since she was 17, watching her get married to @mbhaywood27 yesterday was just most lovely and beautiful and even more special since we had the whole bake-off family there to celebrate!

“Also an honour to make her cake with all the other bakers, love each and everyone one of them!”
Martha and her new husband Michael Haywood asked each of her fellow contestants to bring a sweet treat with them, and they certainly obliged.
Semi-finalist Chetna gave followers a sneak peek into the day and shared a photo of the delicious looking cake table, which included a Biscoff cake, macaron tower, red velvet cake, lemon cake, and a vegan chocolate lime and raspberry cake.

The showstopper was the three-tier chocolate wedding cake made by Claire, who proved that she should never have been eliminated first from the competition.
The delicious-looking cake was covered in chocolate pretzels, Galaxy, fudge and mini golden eggs.
Winner Nancy whipped up a pink Prinsesstarta, which was one of the trickiest technical challenges set on that series. It consists of genoise sponge, jam, pastry creme and a dome of whipped cream covered in green marzipan, but Nancy went pink for the happy occasion.

They follow in the footsteps of 2016 winner Candice Brown who also had her fellow contestants bake her a table full of cakes for her wedding to Liam Macaulay.
The only guests missing were judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry. Here’s hoping they still sent in a cake.
Congratulations to Martha and Michael! If you’ve get any cake left over, send it our way!
