A maid of honour has revealed she was asked by her bridezilla friend of 30 years to follow a weight-loss plan and drop two stone before the big day.
The 33-year-old shared her shocking story on Reddit, admitting she didn’t know how to deal with her friend’s comments.
She explained that both the bride and her husband-to-be are personal trainers, and that they’d offered her a personalised fitness plan to make sure she lost weight for the wedding.

The maid of honour, who wears a UK dress size 14, was left rightly unsure as to whether she should attend the wedding.
She wrote: “My friend is a personal trainer and got engaged to another personal trainer. All of their friends are from the gym they both work at.
“I have known her since we were both 5. I am not a personal trainer… I am a US size 10. So I’m not obese, but I’m on the fatter size. I’m very comfortable with who I am, and my doctor is too…”
She continued: “Tonight she called me with the ‘best’ news. Her fiancé and her are putting together a great work out and meal plan together for me. They figure if I drop 20-30lbs, the wedding pictures will be more “symmetric”.
She was so happy and excited, like she was doing me a favour. I wasn’t even sure what to say so I just hung up and haven’t responded.”

The maid of honour wrote in the comments: “She’s turned into a total bridezilla. Her mum emailed me to apologise and said this wasn’t like her at all.”
Thousands of fellow Reddit users rushed to the woman’s side to share their thoughts and support. Most agreed that she should skip the wedding.
One said: “I just feel people that do this kind of s**t won’t have a happy marriage. They are too superficial and only care about their ‘special day’.”
Another added: “Honestly I’d opt out of everything. Anyone who would degrade and humiliate their best friend like that has lost their honour and integrity. I’m sorry you were treated like that.”

In response to the bride’s comment about her “symmetrical” wedding photos, one user wrote: “Call her back and tell her you thought about her symmetry issue and have decided you can just be in the centre of every picture to make it even. No weight loss needed!”
The maid of honour later explained in the comments that she decided to tell the bride she would not be attending the wedding, rather saving herself the money for a holiday. Good on her!
