I’m a Celebrity contestant Oti Mabuse is a former Strictly Come Dancing star, and a judge on Dancing on Ice.

The television personality has numerous talents, including a range of children’s books, her own dance studio and various stints as a TV presenter.

She’s set to head to the jungle in 2024 for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, so let’s explore everything we know about Oti Mabuse, including her career as a dancer, her famous sister and her family life!

Who is Oti Mabuse?

If you’re not a fan of dancing, you might be wondering who Oti Mabuse is - but don’t worry, we’ve got the full low-down on her here!

Oti Mabuse was born in Pretoria, South Africa on the 8th August 1990 - so if you’re wondering how old Oti Mabuse is, she’s 34!

Oti Mabuse has a sister, Motsi Mabuse, who is also a professional dancer, specialising in ballroom dancing. Oti studied civil engineering at university, before she began her career as a professional ballroom dancer.

She started her television career as a pro dancer on Let’s Dance, the German version of Strictly Come Dancing. Before this, she won the South African Latin American Championship an incredible eight times, as well as various other dance titles and accolades, including:

  • First place in the German Championship PD Freestyle Latin
  • Second place in the European Championship Latin
  • Third Place in the World Cup for Freestyle Latin

She moved to Germany for more dancing opportunities, and after a few years on Let’s Dance, she joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 as a professional.

Oti Mabuse on Strictly Come Dancing

Oti Mabuse was on Strictly Come Dancing for seven years, leaving the show in 2022. She was the only professional dancer to win twice in succession, with Kelvin Fletcher and then Bill Bailey.

She is the second ever pro to win the show twice - the other being Aliona Vilani.

After - and even during - her time on Strictly Come Dancing, Oti took part in various other shows too. In 2019 she was a dance captain on The Greatest Dancer, alongside Cheryl Tweedy and Matthew Morrison, and also featured on Celebrity Masterchef in the same year.

In 2020, Oti Mabuse became the new host of Cbeebies Boogie Beebies, a children’s TV show centred around dancing. Following this, she went on to publish two children’s books about dancing.

She has also been a panelist on The Masked Dancer, a spin off of The Masked Singer, and recently took up a position as a judge on Dancing on Ice.

Oti also has her own dance studio, called the Oti & Marius Dance Studio, which she operates with her husband. They offer a variety of dance courses suited to a range of different abilities.

Oti Mabuse’s Husband

Oti Mabuse keeps her personal life fairly low-key, but we do know that she is married. Oti Mabuse’s husband is Romanian dancer Marius Iepre, who she met during her time in Germany.

Oti and her husband have been married since 2014, and live in London after moving there from Germany in 2015.

Oti Mabuse’s Family: Welcoming Her First Baby

Oti Mabuse and her husband Marius have one child together, a daughter. Oti welcomed her first baby in 2023, announcing her arrival on Christmas Day in an Instagram post.

For those wondering if Oti Mabuse is pregnant or when she had her baby - she hasn’t revealed the date of the birth, and nor has she revealed her daughter’s name.

She did however announce her pregnancy in August 2023, with the birth of her daughter following in December. She revealed to the Telegraph that her daughter was born very premature, and with a serious infection after doctors missed that she had sepsis.

Whilst she hasn’t revealed her baby’s name or face on any of her channels, fans can still get glimpses of the tot in the adorable videos of family life (many of which involve dancing, of course!) that Oti posts.

We can’t wait to see how Oti gets on during her stint on I’m a Celeb - could she be our new Queen of the Jungle? If you want more I’m a Celebrity insight, don’t miss our round ups on GK Barry and Maura Higgins.
