How Did Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain & Perrie Edwards Meet?
The rumours of Perrie and Alex's romance began back in June 2016. We know this because in 2024, Perrie went on an episode of The Zach Sang Show to promote her debut solo music, and she revealed how she met her now fiancé.
The singer revealed that she met her footballer boyfriend on the celebrity dating app Raya - or rather, one of Perrie's friends went on her phone for her and swiped right! The pair continued to text for a while before they met up in a Cirque nightclub in London.
The ex-Little Mix star admitted it was "love at first sight", and confessed that her relationship with Alex was the first "healthy" romance she'd ever had.
Are Perrie Edwards & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Dating?
Dating? More like, engaged! Rumours that the pair were dating began in 2016, when Perrie returned to The X Factor stage with her Little Mix bandmembers to perform their hit song, "Shout Out To My Ex".
Alex was spotted supporting Perrie from the audience during the performance while posing for pictures with fans.
Things were quiet for a while between the two, until the pair went Instagram official in January 2017, after Perrie uploaded a sweet photo of Alex with her dogs at the dinner table. But shortly after, fans were left confused as Perrie swiftly deleted the picture from social media.
Fortunately we weren't left in the dark for too long, as in February of that same year, Perrie uploaded a loved-up picture of her kissing her footballer boyfriend in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, captioning it simply "Him".
After that, the rest was history! From hilarious Snapchat appearances on each other's stories, to celebrity red carpet appearances together, the pair aren't shy to celebrate each other's birthdays or share romantic holiday snaps of each other with their fans online.
Who is Perrie Edwards?
Born in South Shields in 1993 in the North East of England, Perrie Edwards grew up in Whiteleas before heading to Newcastle College to receive a Performing Arts BTEC. During her teenage years, she also spent a few years living in Dorset and eventually New Zealand.
Edwards rose to fame on the eighth series of The X Factor UK, after being grouped with her co-stars Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson to form the band Little Mix. The group were mentored by Kelly Rowland, a former judge of the talent show, who recognised the potential of all four soloists after their elimination, and decided to bring them back as a band.
Fun fact - the band was originally called Rhythmix, but their changed their name to Little Mix for legal reasons. Their debut album, DNA, was released in 2012 through Simon Cowell's record label, Syco, and reached the top 10 in 10 countries. Today, Little Mix has sold over 50 million records worldwide, and boasts more than 19 million Spotify listeners.
The band split up in 2020 after Jesy decided to leave the band, so Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne announced that they were pursuing solo careers alongside their group music. By then, Perrie and her now fiancé Alex were very much in love, and in August 2021 they announced the birth of their child, Axel.
Since leaving Little Mix, Perrie has embarked upon a number of exciting ventures. In addition to becoming a mother, she's also launched a solo project 'Disora', which describes itself as a 'label focused on providing premium designs accessible to a wider audience". Disora stands of 'Discover Your Aura' - very creative!
In July 2022, the singer teased fans with new music as she was working on the studio with Little Mix's songwriter Kamille and Ed Sheeran's producer Steve Mac. These rumours continued in October of 2023, when Perrie hinted to new music even more by sharing photos from her home studio.
After much anticipation, Perrie finally released her new song 'Forget About Us' on the 12th of April 2024, along with a second solo song called 'Tears', which of course the fans absolutely loved.
Perrie has also gone on to write music with fellow singer songwriter RAYE, and the two are known to be good friends. In 2024, she she shared with fans that her wedding planning is finally underway, so we can't wait to see what the talented musician has in store for her big day!
Who is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was born in August of 1993, the same year as his now fiancé Perrie Edwards, in Portsmouth. Despite being told at a young age that he would be too short to become a football player, he proved everyone wrong by going on to have huge success as a midfielder for the England Football Team.
Growing up, he actually showed promise across a wide range of sports, from rugby to cricket, but his heart was set on football from a young age. Fortunately, he had the expertise and guidance of his ex-footballer father, Mark Chamberlain, to help him. HIs hard work eventually led him to become Southhampton's second youngest debutant at just 16 years old.
He eventually make it to the Premier League, and was bought by Arsenal for a whopping £12 million. Today, Alex is heralded as the youngest English goalscorer in UEFA Champions League history, and also has a regular place int he England under-21 team. Over his six seasons at Arsenal, he's played 198 games and scored 20 goals, winning the FA cup three times. Impressive!
Are Perrie Edwards & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Married?
The short answer is, no. After a magnificent proposal in June 2022, many people are asking "are Perrie Edwards and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain engaged?". Although the pair became to-be-weds a couple of years ago now, they are still yet to set the date.
In 2024, the singer appeared on BBC Radio 2 with Scott Mills to talk about her big day, and revealed that she's struggling to work out where to "draw the line" with her guest list. Apparently, her and her partner Alex have been struggling to agree on who to invite, and who to leave out. This is a classic dilemma in the wedding planning journey, so she's not alone!
Have Perrie and Alex Split?
Absolutely not! Whilst their long engagement has caused some people to wonder why the pair haven't tied the knot yet, it's really not uncommon for nearlyweds to take their time when planning a wedding.
