The Best Celebrity Weddings of 2021
Planning a wedding certainly had its challenges in 2021, but these celebrities didn’t let the pandemic put them off. Roll up for the best celebrity weddings of 2021…
Whether you’re planning your own wedding and seeking some starry inspiration or simply want to reflect on the calendar of celebrity weddings from the past year, one thing’s for sure – the pandemic didn’t get in the way of some very ‘extra’ nuptials among the glitterati. We’re talking dress changes galore, A-list bridal parties, fairytale venues and florals that’d upstage the Chelsea Flower Show.
That said, not all celebrity couples went big for their 2021 wedding. Some, like Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez, quite literally went home. The pair married at their house in Montecito, California, in front of 20 of their closest friends and family members, proving that minimonies really were a 2021 mood. There were whirlwind weddings, like Lena Dunham’s to musician Luis Felber in September, and ceremonies to celebrate long-term love – Emma Bunton and Jade Jones have been together for over 20 years and engaged for 15. From intimate weddings to big society events, enjoy our rundown of the best celebrity weddings of the year (there really is something for everyone).

The 17 Best Celebrity Weddings of 2021
1. Paris Hilton and Carter Reum
Heiress Paris Hilton married her venture capitalist fiancé Carter Reum in a three-day wedding spectacular in Beverly Hills. The marriage ceremony itself took place on Thursday 11th November at 11:11am, apparently Paris’ favourite time of the day (she makes a habit of posting on Twitter at 11:11am) and also the name of her newest business project, 11:11 Media.
Hilton tied the knot in a lavish Oscar de la Renta lace floral wedding gown with long sleeves and a full skirt before changing into no fewer than three other dresses that evening. There was sparkle, shoulders, sequinned capes and short, dance floor ready wedding dresses among her gowns of choice, and unsurprisingly the dressing up didn’t end there.
Thursday’s wedding was followed by a neon-themed carnival on Friday night and the marriage extravaganza culminated in a black tie ball on Saturday night, where the star showcased an A-line lace Marchesa dress, followed by a star appliqué, crystal embellished Oscar de la Renta party dress. All in all, it was gloriously ‘Parisian’ in every way you’d expect.
2. Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell
Actor Lily Collins married director Charlie McDowell in a small ceremony on 4th September at Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado. Think waterfalls, forest glades, mountains and babbling brooks – this is dream outdoor wedding territory. Lily wore a hooded, high necked French lace gown designed by Ralph Lauren and the décor had distinctly rustic, boho vibes with outdoor rugs and musicians playing in meadows. No wonder Lily described her wedding weekend as “otherworldly”.
3. Malala Yousafzai and Asser Malik
Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai tied the knot with her partner Asser Malik on 9th November at a nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham, accompanied by her family. Malala wore a pink salwar kameez suit with gold embroidery and applied her own henna prior to the ceremony. Malala’s home was decorated with a cream flower wall and the couple cut a large iced cream cake piped with their names in celebration.
Describing Asser as her “best friend”, Malala revealed to Vogue that the two share a love of cricket (Asser works for the Pakistan Cricket Board) and have “common values”. For his part, Asser credits Malala as “the most supportive friend, a beautiful and kind partner”. Malala also graduated from Oxford University later in November – that's a lot of milestones in one month.
4. Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez
Ariana Grande wed real estate agent Dalton Gomez in May at home wearing Vera Wang and her trademark ponytail with a short tulle veil. The bride’s mum walked her down the aisle and the couple exchanged vows in a candlelit room with flowers suspended from the ceiling. Pure magic.

5. Lady Kitty Spencer and Michael Lewis
2021 was certainly a year of wedding extremes for celebrities – for every star that decided on a low key do, there was another that pushed the boat out. Princess Diana’s niece Lady Kitty Spencer was one such famous bride. She married her fashion magnate fiancé Michael Lewis at a grand villa near Rome in July, with celebrations lasting for three days.
Lady Kitty wore five dresses in total, all designed by Dolce & Gabbana (Lady Kitty is a model and ambassador for the Italian design house). Her main wedding dress in particular was a puff sleeved, structured lace showstopper. Wedding gowns don’t get more regal, which is apt considering Lady Kitty’s lineage.
6. Ivy Love Getty and Tobias Alexander Engel
Heiress, artist and model Ivy Getty and her photographer partner Tobias Alexander Engel may have technically held a wedding reception at home in San Francisco, but the Getty mansion isn’t quite your average family abode. The surroundings were akin to an art gallery, and the couple tied the knot beforehand at San Francisco’s grand City Hall.
John Galliano designed the bride’s mirrored wedding gown, alongside the 14 bridesmaids’ slinky silver dresses (actor Anya Taylor-Joy was maid of honour). There were multiple dress changes throughout the wedding weekend, with a 60s mod-themed reception party kicking things off in swinging style and Getty cutting the cake with her new husband in an ethereal pale pink layered tulle and chiffon dress. All in all, dreamy scenes.
7. Jasmine Tookes and Juan David Borrero
Another dazzling 2021 celebrity wedding was the union between model Jasmine Tookes and Snapchat director Juan David Borrero at a white rose filled church in Quito, Ecuador. Jasmine wore a Grace Kelly inspired Zuhair Murad dress with a 15-foot train, with bridesmaids in leaf green silk. The couple celebrated their reception at a hacienda outside the city, with much partying and food prepared by a top Ecuadorian chef.
8. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton
The groom may have worn jeans to get married, but he is a famous American country music singer, so the dress code at Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s July wedding had distinct Wild West leanings. The couple married at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch, with the bride in white cowboy boots and two custom-designed Vera Wang gowns – one layered strapless tulle gown for the ceremony and a short sequin and silk minidress for the evening reception.
Her veil was embroidered with the name of her three sons and the opulent tiered white wedding cake incorporated tiny swans, bells and highly skilled piping. Blake surprised Gwen with a song written in her honour too – old skool romance thrived in 2021.

9. Christina Ricci and Mark Hampton
Actor Christina Ricci and her celebrity hair stylist partner Mark Hampton have had a big year, with marriage and a new baby, but their October wedding was distinctly laid back and relaxed. The pair wore white shirts with the bride carrying a white flower and foliage heavy bouquet, her hair pulled into a neat, sleek ponytail.

10. Emma Bunton and Jade Jones
Another simple and beautiful 2021 celebrity wedding, Emma Bunton and Jade Jones marked their 23 years together by getting married in a secret ceremony at Soho Farmhouse in The Cotswolds.
The couple were accompanied by their mums and two boys and posed for photos under a flower arch, Emma wearing a white Miu Miu minidress and Jade in beige chinos and a brown trilby hat. Understated is very much their style.
11. Issa Rae and Louis Diame
Star and co-writer of Insecure Issa Rae may have declared her wedding to be just “an impromptu photoshoot”, but her and her businessman boyfriend Louis Diame’s Côte d’Azur nuptials embraced both glamour and romance.
The destination wedding in July included a lush garden ceremony, violinists and a very starry setting at the blush-hued Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Issa wore a strapless bespoke Vera Wang dress, Louis looked seriously sharp in a crushed red velvet suit by Dolce & Gabbana and bridesmaids wore dusty pink.
12. Lena Dunham and Luis Felber
Taylor Swift may have been a bridesmaid, but actor, writer and filmmaker Lena Dunham’s London wedding to musician Luis Felber was a fairly spontaneous affair at the Soho Union Club – Lena told Vogue that it was planned in a month. Lena wore three custom dresses designed by Christopher Kane (and looked every bit the rock star) and the couple said their vows under a floral chuppah in front of 60 guests.
13. James Middleton and Alizée Thevenet
James Middleton and his financial analyst finacée Alizée Thevenet likely also had quite the celebrity guest list – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were among the attendees of their wedding in September.
Alizée’s something borrowed was of serious family significance – she revealed to Hello! that she wore Carole Middleton’s wedding dress. The off-the-shoulder Bardot style was perfectly suited to the couple’s French Riviera wedding.

14. Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt
We count these two as royalty, just from the Love Island dynasty. Camilla and Jamie tied the knot in September with a church ceremony and reception at a manor house. Garden games, a regency style interior and a main of beef wellington made it the perfect English country wedding, but not everything was meticulously planned in advance – Camilla credits luxury boutique MiliMili Bridal with finding her wedding dress just the week beforehand.
15. Binky Felstead and Max Fredrik Darnton
Binky and Max have also had a busy year – the former Made in Chelsea character and her businessman boyfriend only had their son Wolfie seven weeks before their big day. The pair had a civil ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall (where else?) in July, with Binky wearing a slip and floral appliqué bolero by Halfpenny London.
The couple told Hello! that they plan to celebrate with a larger wedding next year on a cliffside in Corfu, with plenty of sailing, snorkelling and beachside dining on the menu.

16. Lucy Watson and James Dunmore
More Made in Chelsea alumni, Lucy and James officially tied the knot in a civil ceremony in the UK and felt the romantic pull of Greek sunsets too – they celebrated their wedding in Kefalonia in September.
A thunderstorm on the day made for atmospheric aisle entrance, as did Lucy’s off the shoulder ruffled wedding dress by Milla Nova. The bride changed into a silk ivory Grace Loves Lace slip dress for the evening reception and danced the night away with her new husband.
17. Lara Stone and David Grievson
Model Lara Stone’s wedding to property developer David Grievson in July was refreshingly ‘normal’ – the pair got married at Hungerford Town Hall, Lara wore a bohemian style V-neck wedding dress (adding cat’s eye sunglasses for her first dance) and the couple originally met on Tinder. If that’s not a modern day love story, we’re not sure what is.
