When we got engaged last year, one of our considerations in choosing a venue was finding a place where our dog, Ozzy, could join us for the ceremony. It might sound cheesy, but Ozzy is part of our family, and it felt only right for him to be part of such an important day.

Initially, we considered asking some of our bridal party to help look after him throughout the day. While we knew there would be plenty of willing volunteers, we didn’t want anyone to miss out on key moments, like the wedding breakfast or speeches, because they were busy walking, feeding, or entertaining him. We also realized that Ozzy might get a bit overwhelmed and tired if he were involved in every part of the day, especially during the noisier evening moments when the band was playing.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to spend too much time worrying about it. As our venue, The Croft Hotel, recommended a fantastic solution: hiring Cameron from Wagging Tails to chaperone Ozzy on our wedding day. Cameron came highly recommended by the hotel, and his glowing reviews reassured us that Ozzy would be in safe and caring hands.

In the months leading up to the wedding, Cameron connected with us via email and phone to introduxe himself and understand exactly how we wanted Ozzy to be involved. He was friendly, professional, and full of great suggestions about the best times for Ozzy to participate in our day and when it might be better for him to rest.

On the morning of the wedding, Cameron arrived to pick up Ozzy and took him on a long walk to burn off some energy before the ceremony. He also ensured Ozzy was dressed to impress in his little suit and had clean paws for the big event. Cameron himself came dressed smartly, blending in so well with our guests that many assumed he was one of them.

One of the highlights of the day was during the ceremony. We had planned a special moment where Ozzy would bring us our rings. Cameron led Ozzy to the aisle, released him from his lead, and Ozzy excitedly ran down to us—a moment that had all our guests smiling and laughing. It was perfect, and we couldn’t have done it without Cameron’s help.

Throughout the day, Cameron was there whenever we needed him. He brought Ozzy to mingle with guests, kept him on standby for group photos, and took him on little naps and adventures around the area to keep him calm and happy. In the evening, Cameron fed Ozzy and gave him some quiet time to rest before bringing him back out to greet our evening guests. He strategically placed Ozzy at the entrance to the reception room so everyone could fuss over him as they arrived.

Cameron went above and beyond, even capturing beautiful photos of Ozzy, us, and the venue, which he shared with us the day after the wedding. And when our photographer needed Ozzy to sit still for pictures, Cameron used treats to keep his attention, ensuring we got the perfect shots.

Cameron was absolutely brilliant, not just when looking after our boys on our wedding day but also at our initial meeting, and when taking them out for walks before the wedding. Our dogs were instantly at ease with him, and we knew we didn’t have to worry about them at all. It was lovely to receive a full gallery of photos from our day as well, and getting a few behind the scenes snaps of our two Labradors. We engaged Cameron to look after our elderly, nervous rescue greyhound during our daughter's wedding. We knew that she'd be worried and would need constant attention during the day, while we went about our "father and mother of the bride" duties, but we really wanted her to be there to add her support for our daughter to ours. Cameron describes his service as a "Professional Tailored dog chaperone service", and that's absolutely right. He is certainly flexible - we made several changes to the arrangements as plans for the wedding developed and he was able to accommodate them, including adding an extra couple of hours the evening before. He is also highly professional, arriving fully "suited and booted" for the day so he fitted in perfectly at ceremony and the rest of the day. Cameron's use of the word "chaperone" is absolutely right too - this isn't just a looking-after or dog-sitting service, it's more than that. He was there for our dog at all times and he provided care, comfort and companionship for her all the time - he treated it as a full-time job, which she needed and deserved.

Most importantly of all, he beautifully followed our dog's mood and took her away from places she found stressful but allowed her to be visible for fussing, which she loved. He was really "in tune" with our dog.

We highly and unreservedly recommend Cameron and his chaperone service for your event, whether you are bride and groom or, as we were, parents at the event. In fact anyone at an event where you want your dog to be there, but can't give them the attention they need - Cameron will take on that role, and he does it really, really well.

Cameron was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish and by far one of our favourite suppliers from our wedding day. The service he provided us with was outstanding and exceeded our expectations. We planned our wedding in just 6 months, so Cameron’s prompt responses to all of our queries were key to ensure that we could achieve our ideal day and have our dog, Ronnie, be a part of that. We don’t usually trust anyone with Ronnie, he only ever stays with family, but Cameron was our exception to this. He even travelled all the way down to Teesside to meet Ronnie and take him for a walk with my husband before the big day so that they were familiar with one another. Ronnie absolutely loved Cameron and we felt so relaxed and happy knowing that he was being taken such good care of and that all of his needs were being met. We even received a gallery of behind the scenes photographs afterwards from Cameron which showed us the day from Ronnie's perspective. This included his walk before the ceremony etc. (and him fast asleep at the end of the night!) This was a lovely touch, as we obviously didn’t get to see any of that at the time. It was so important and an absolute priority to us that Ronnie was there with us on our special day and we couldn’t have done that without Cameron.

Just knowing that Roman was looked after, fed, walked and fussed over for the whole day allowed us to enjoy a stress free wedding day. Cameron at wagging tails was amazing with roman and he seemed to love every minute. I simply can’t thank him enough, an absolute god send and money very well spent. Cameron was amazing from start to finish!! He came over to our home and took the time to let our cockapoos bonnie and belle get used to him and slowly introduce himself so it wasn’t a shock on the big day. He took them for a short walk and then nearer to the wedding took them out again. By the time the big day came they were basically running after him and were so at ease in his company. He arrived promptly on the big day and even helped us out early in the morning by taking her for a long walk and to her groomers whilst we were getting ready to ensure she was extra fluffy and groomed for her job as ring bearer. He picked her up from the groomers and ensured she was back in time and relaxed before walking down the aisle. He was always on hand for if we needed any assistance or needed to hand her over on the day. It made us feel more relaxed knowing our fur babies were being cared for with as much love and care as we would give them. I couldn’t recommend Cameron enough!! He went up and beyond for us and was absolutely amazing even capturing the most gorgeous photos of our dogs on the day. Our cockapoo is usually very anxious and she was so at ease on the day with him. He truly is amazing!

Cameron looked after our two Shih Tzus on our wedding day and from start to finish he was amazing.

We loved being able to have our dogs at our wedding all day whilst knowing they are in safe hands and with complete peace of mind of who was looking after them - we couldn’t have done this without Cameron! He kept our girls calm and comfortable all day and it was so special to have them there.

From before the first meeting right up to the actual wedding all communication was great, we were really put at ease - and then the added bonus of all the photos and videos Cameron captured on the day are just the icing on the cake!

Cameron did such an amazing job with Barnabas, I would never in a million years think people would use "well behaved" and "Barnabas" in the same sentence, but it must have been Cameron's calming influence. All of our guests commented on how great Barney was and how incredibly lovely Cameron was too. Barney was shy and a bit overwhelmed the night before the wedding but Cameron must have the magic touch as he was like a different dog on our wedding day! He also managed to get Barney into his wedding harness and bowtie which is a challenge in itself.

Thank you for making the day so seamless and putting us at complete ease that Barney was well looked after. It was a huge weight off our minds to know he was happy.

Cameron looked after our Cockapoo on our wedding day in July 2024 and he was absolutely fantastic! He travelled over to Cumbria for our wedding and even took the time to get to know Cooper before the day. Cooper loved him. Cameron is far more than a dog chaperone. He is the full package! That’s not to say that his attention is not fully on your dog. His caring approach begins with pre-visits and walks to get to know your dog. He then asked us everything he would need to give the very best care to our dog, Milo. He was so attentive and caring on the day of our wedding and even put together a photo gallery of our day. He made it possible for Milo to be a part of our most special day in a way that allowed us to focus on each other and include him in every way!
