Speech by Adam Gibson

Did this speech in front of about 60 people and was very young for a best man at 19. THE most nervous thing i have ever done and probably ever will do! but went down great, got some good laughs and my proud grandad nearly cried! When you realize they Are gonig to laugh at your jokes its easy, just wish i'd put a few more in there once they were all laughing! Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls…
For any who I haven't had the chance to meet me yet my name is Adam, and today I not only have the pleasure of being David's son, but also his best man. So apologies for calling him Dad throughout my speech.

Firstly, hope you're all having a good time today…like I was until about 30 seconds ago.
Secondly, I'd like to welcome Diane to the Gibson Family! As you can probably see by looking around we are the smaller family so I think Dad has more to worry about, especially after Diane drunkenly informed me last night Dad now has 8 brothers in law.
Also, I'd like to thank My Dad for giving me the opportunity to be his best man. At first I was extremely proud and excited… Then it sunk in that I'd have to do a speech. After asking around I got some helpful information from my boss, who was keen to remind me that it is my Dad I'm talking about, so not to make any inappropriate jokes, he also told me my speech should last no longer than the groom in bed… so err thank you and good night. *sit down*

Sadly with being David's son he probably has more embarrassing stories about me than I have about him, so I'm going to struggle to follow tradition and give him 5 minutes of torture. Well not without an hour of torture at the bar later for myself!

So then, David was born on the 3rd of July 1952 in Staffordshire, where I believe he came prematurely. I found 2 interesting happenings in the year Dad was born. Dad must have been one hell of a misbehaving baby as someone invented the first contraceptive pill while he was a troublesome tot, make of that what you want! Also shortly before Dad was born in the same year there was the first nuclear power plant disaster in Canada, another contributing factor of how Dad has turned out today!
How exactly has Dad turned out today? Well he's:
Devilishly Handsome
Extremely Witty
Intelligent
Charming
Good Looking
A great Cook
He's per… Per … Sorry Dad I'm having trouble reading your writing.*Throw the card away*

Dads time spent at Woolich Polytechnic College must have done him well. He's moved up in the world, from his days collecting glasses at Jolly's nightclub and has now worked at many of the top hotels around including the café royal, still collecting glasses though I believe!

One of my most memorably highlights of Dad along side the ponds he has fallen into and him walking into lamp posts would have to be the time Dad was walking in the lakes I think, when he stopped to have his fortune read by a lady and daughter in a caravan, only for them to try and steal his wallet while his was gazing into there mystic tire!

I'm sure no matter what the mystic lady had predicted for him, Dad couldn't have done much better than been here today with so much family and friends, in such a beautiful location, getting married to Diane, who looks absolutely stunning,
Almost finished now, and if you've enjoyed listening to this speech as much as I enjoyed making it, then all I can do is apologies!
Finally the last toast I would like to make goes to everybody, David and Diane's family and friends for making today what it has been! Cheers!
