One tip someone gave me was to colour code each paragraph so you don''t lose where you are if reading it.

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Ash.
Firstly I would like to thank Dave for asking me to be his Best Man – it has been an honour and a pleasure. I would like to thank the bridesmaids and page boy for doing such a wonderful job today, I'm sure you'll all agree they look lovely today, as does of course Rebecca in her lovely dress and even Dave doesn't look too bad!
Dave and I have been good friends for nearly 25 years now, going back to our days at middle school, when my family had just moved into the area from Kent and I did not know anyone. On my first day at school, I was seated next to Dave and we hit it off from then and our friendship took off.
We then went through secondary school together where Dave learned some of his skills as an electrician, for use in later life, and used his inventiveness to conjure up some inventions like his electrical door lock which worked well and his not so successful Tuba wrapped in Christmas lights powered by a car battery, for playing in the Christmas band, which promptly went up in smoke
However Dave persevered with his electrical knowledge and became a qualified electrician when he left school. I on the other hand took the easy option and settled for an office job in a bank, however despite our differing careers though, we remained good friends and have always kept in regular contact, right up to the present day.
Moving on to the Stag night, a week or two before the big day, just in case of any problems, thanks to Dave and his dad Alan for organising the gliding at Lasham nr Basingstoke. Those of us who had the stomach for it went gliding and had a great time, though the rapid acceleration on take off and the 45` winch launch did leave my stomach behind.
We then hit the town in the evening and despite the huge police presence as they obviously heard we were coming, we all kept out of trouble within reason & got back safely, albeit not completely sober.
As well as being a good friend, Dave was Thomas my sons godfather and also my best man, 10 years ago, when he was still in hospital. Dave is famous for his use of analogy's and I remember that at the end of his best mans speech he said, bearing in mind I really look after my car, with no expense spared, if I look after Clare my wife as well as I look after my car, he was sure we would get on fine, and sure enough he was right. I then wondered if I could apply this to Dave, but as he has just crashed and nearly written off his new car, I thought perhaps not!
‘At the end of the day’ another of Dave's well known sayings, I know both Rebecca and Dave are so well suited to each other that I know they will be very happy together and I would like you to be upstanding and raise your glasses to ‘the Bride & Groom’. Toast.
Now you might have thought you would get away with not listening to him but we've saved the best till last lets hope Dave would like to say a few words.
