BOBBY:
Thank's, Jack. That was a very nice speech. How's it going everyone? I just wanna say to those that have already had too much to drink no! You're not seeing double there really is, two of us up here. And for the majority of you that are still sober yes! I am the better looking one. If you don't already know, I'm Bobby and this is my twin Grant and we are our little brother Scott's best-men.
GRANT:
I felt shocked and honoured when Scott asked me to be the best-man. I was even more shocked when I found out he'd asked Bobby too, because I've always thought I was the better man. Either way it's a privilege for both of us. We aren't often labelled with the title best. It shows that Scott is one of the few people that respects and admires us. We have always been his go-to guys. Now he needs us during this religious celebration and we know that we can't just shuffle our role. But must step up fulfilling our duties and we are here to support our buddy through the most important day of his life.
BOBBY:
And with the duty of being best-men comes the responsibility of writing a speech about Scott that was both funny and sincere. Easy we thought if we just wrote from our hearts. Well, eleven months later and after thousands of screwed-up paper balls we were still struggling……Ok, that's a lie. We didn't start writing this speech until a week ago but luckily we got there in the end.
GRANT:
Some people see marriage as a contract or a spiritual path people go down. We see marriage as the bond between two people who love each other and are prepared to spend the rest of their lives with one another, through the good and the bad. It's also the joining of two families so on that note I'd like to officially welcome Alex's mum Sue, Alex's dad Jack and younger brother Jack to the family. We'd like to thank Alex for being the one who's captured my brother's heart and for sharing this ever-lasting love with him. And Mum for doing such a great job raising Scott into the man he is today.
BOBBY:
We hope everyone's enjoying this incredible wedding and joining of Scott and Alex. It's been an amazing day and can we just say to Alex you look absolutely stunning and Scott it's amazing what a bar of soap and beard trim can do to a man. Who'd have thought less than eight hours ago you looked more like a ginger Viking on dress-down day? But no, seriously you look perfect together; you really are made for each other.
Well what can I say about our little ginger sibling? Sorry Mum, I meant strawberry-blonde. For as long as I can remember Scott has always been a Mummy's-boy. I still remember the very first time he sang in front of the whole school when he was in nursery. All on his little lonesome he sang the whole of Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star. Mum's eyes welled up with joy, she looked so proud. Really sweet you might think except he still couldn't pronounce his words properly and was actually singing Winkle-Winkle Little Star..
GRANT:
Things weren't always so rosy between Mum and Scott. After a big argument and a massive strop from Scott I think he'd decided it was time to move out & he started packing his stuff. Thing is he was only eight at the time and Scott I don't think you would have got very far on a plastic toy case filled with underwear and a pack of frozen fish-fingers. It's funny though Mum's not been able to get rid of him since.
When Scott and Alex met for the first time it wasn't your typical meeting, Scott worked on a stall selling kids toys and Alex in a leather shop on East Street market. Don't worry people, I've been assured by Alex it wasn't that type of leather shop. Scott was innocently packing toys onto his stall when he was inappropriately touched by some random girl. Who by the way; claims she thought it was someone else's bum she was pinching and apparently was only trying to ask him if he fancied a cup of tea. If I had a pound for every time I used that line.
BOBBY:
A few months later we all met Alex for the first time and boy I wish Scott had warned me. It's fair to say that Alex can definitely talk the hind legs off a donkey and rarely comes up for air. But Alex is an amazing woman; she's strong, smart, ambitious, beautiful and let's just say that she has very good communication skills and a very good sense of humour. And let's not forget together they have one of the most amazing gifts their beautiful little girl Lily-Rose.
GRANT:
We found it pretty tough writing a speech to make fun and embarrass Scott because to be perfectly honest he's never really put a foot wrong. He's honest, smart, caring, thought fuland always puts his family before anything. But there was this one time I caught Scott practising the dance routine to spice girls. I won't tell you all how old he was at the time. Everything Scott does he gives 100% he's a brilliant dad, a great partner and brother and son. Scott you are a ledge.
BOBBY:
We'd like to now thank Scott & Alex on behalf of the bridesmaids, thank you both for allowing them to be part of this special occasion. We would also like to personally thank the bridesmaids, you all look gorgeous and you've done a great job. Also a special mention for the pageboys our cousin Joshua and my little boy Bobby and well done to the ushers Tom, Alfie and Jack, thanks Tom and Alfie for turning up sober.
GRANT:
Finally Scott can we just say it has been a privilege and an absolute honour to be your best-men today. We wish you both happiness and the best for the future and to love, life, laughter and happily ever after. So without further ado can everyone raise their glasses once more in a toast to the newly-weds.
To Scott & Alex
