I'd like to start tonight by thanking the parents of the bride and groom for helping to make this wonderful occasion a reality. I'm sure you can all agree with me when I say that this is by far one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever had the pleasure of attending.

For those of you who don't know me my name is Chris & I've been josh's partner in crime for nearly 25 years. This is my first time as a best man and to be truthful I'm a little nervous. But Josh said if I do a really good job he'll let me be the best man at his second wedding.

Before I move on, I just want to say how beautiful Tracey is looking tonight, absolutely stunning. And Josh mate your looking really good too. Although I see once again you've copied my outfit for tonight.

As best man, I'm supposed to let the brides side of the family know what sort of man Tracey has married so here goes. He's funny, charming, good looking, sua….suave? Yeah sorry mate I don't think that's how you spell suave. Anyway you get the idea, he's a good man.

When I asked Josh if he had a plan to make his marriage a lifelong success he told me he intended to love and nurture his marriage the same way he does with his beloved rugby. He said he's going in fully committed, plans to score every week, change ends at half time and play half the season away from home. At this point Tracey piped up and said “Funny that, because I reckon that's a sure fire way of getting a serious groin injury”

When preparing to write this speech I did what all great speechwriters of our generation do, scoured the internet. And after a couple of hours I found some really great stuff, but then I remembered I was supposed to be looking for best man speeches. After I got all the pop up windows to close, which took a while, I remembered when Josh and I were in school together & it struck me even then how different Josh was to the rest of the other five year olds in class. He was eleven.

When Tracey first started seeing Josh I was absolutely wrapped. I don't know about the rest of the flatmates but there would have been numerous times when I would have died from malnutrition or at least caught some disease as a result of living in a dilapidated environment if I couldn't of stolen Josh & Tracey's food and relied on Tracey's brilliant obsessive compulsive cleaning disorder. Believe me, I think Tracey is one of the only people in the world who could live with five guys in their early 20’s without a clue on how to look after themselves and still decide one of them is worth marrying.

In all seriousness Josh has been the best friend a man could ask for. He's the first one there with a box of lion red when times get tough. He never judges anyone & he's one of the best listeners I've ever had the honour of talking to. When you combine that with Tracy's strength, beauty & loyalty what you get is a shining example of true love and mutual respect. I know I speak for all of us here when I say that our lives are made better by having you two a part of them.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you could raise your glasses as I propose a toast to the bride & groom. Here's to finding that special someone you want to annoy for the rest of your life! Cheers!
