Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, Hello, for those of you that don't know me, my name is Del, and after years of arguing Cerith has finally agreed that I am and always have been the best man!
So, Cerith and Debbie have finally got married then, for better or for worse, which is quite appropriate as Cerith couldn't have done any better and Debbie couldn't have done any worse!
I have to say this has been a truly magnificent wedding and Cerith and Debbie should be congratulated for all the hard work involved in organising such a wonderful occasion.
Best of all of course, it's not very often any of us get a free dinner, and beer, from Cerith, so make the most of it!!
I would like to start off by saying a few thank yous – first of all I would like to thank the Ushers.. for at least turning up sober, "Good work Guys".
To the bridesmaids who I am sure you will all agree look gorgeous.
Also a quick mention to the bride and grooms mothers, Rhian and Lynda looking beautiful. Not to sure about Brides father though, he looks like he's going to the Pub for the afternoon!
And last but not least I'm sure you will all agree that Debbie looks like one in a million…..… and Cerith looks like he's been won in a raffle!
I can remember the first time I met Cerith, it was while playing for Bryn rovers juniors, there I was a skinny 13 yr old boy weighing no more than 7 stone. And then there was Cerith 6 foot tall with a full grown beard and a hairy chest and all! He was the only kid in the changing room to carry a shaver in his kit bag!!
Talking of football, Cerith considers himself to be a bit of a star player. And he keeps going on about the fact that he was the only captain in Bryn Rovers history to win the league and cup double. In fact he could have turned professional if it wasn't for two things, his left foot and his right foot.
It is through football that we really bonded and over our teenage years, we have had some truly memorable nights out and been on countless tours and even on holiday together.
I have also had the pleasure of sharing a house with Debbie and Cerith and can honestly say they are the most suited couple I have ever met.
They're great together when it comes to doing household duties:
– Debbie cooks/ Cerith eats
– Cerith drinks/ Debbie drives
– Cerith makes a mess/ Debbie clears it up!
The perfect couple!
Now I'm not married myself, but I'm sure the right girl for me is just round the corner… Unless the police have moved her on since last night! But In honour of being best man I have a couple of tips for you Cerith:
Always remember those 3 little words that are the key to a long and happy marriage… ””You're right Debbie!
Remember that married life can be compared to football. Be fully committed every week and make sure you score every weekend. Put your tackle in hard or you might injure yourself. However, Debbie assures me that playing away from home, will result in a serious groin injury and is definitely the quickest way to get on the transfer list.
And Debbie always remember that there are 3 rings involved in marriage:
Engagement ring, wedding ring, and suffering.
To finish off I have a few messages to read out:
The first is from players at Bryn football club village team.
Congratulations on this very special day. We are sure you are looking forward to your first night together as man and wife and so have this special message for you.
We found Cerith was useless in every position, so Debbie, we hope you have more luck!!!!
Dear Cerith,
I hope you're not going to forget us now your married, from all the boys at the blue oyster sauna and massage parlour.
In all honesty, I am really honoured to be Cerith's best man. He is like a brother to me, my best mate. He has always been there for me and always willing to help me. You couldn't meet a nicer bloke. We've been through a lot together and it means the world to me to be stood here today.
In finding Debbie, Cerith has found a real gem. Debbie is a friend of mine and also a very good friend to my sister Nina. She is a wonderful mother and a beautiful and genuine person to be around. What you have together is something very special. You are very lucky to have found each other and your son Owain is very lucky to have parents as great as you. I know you will make each other happy and you deserve all the happiness you get.
So to finish, thank you Cerith, it's been an honour to be your best man, I am absolutely delighted for both of you and I hope you have a long and happy future together. It now gives me immense pleasure to invite you all to stand and raise your glasses in a toast to the happiness, and good fortune of the Bride and Groom.
Cerith and Debbie Jones.
Plus I would like you all to remain standing for a toast to absent family and friends.
Thank you.
