Speech Type: Best man
Speech Creator: Harry Yip
Speech Date: Jan2007
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I hope everyone is having a great time so far. My name is Harry and I have the honour of being George's best man.

First off, I'd like to tell Kathy &amp the Bridesmaids how beautiful they look tonight, you have done a fantastic job – especially getting Julie to the church – I understand she put up quite a struggle to leave the house!

As for Julie, I'm sure everyone here will agree, you look absolutely gorgeous! And George, what can I say? We tried our best but you really didn't give us much to work with!!

You're an extremely lucky man Julie is a beautiful, smart, funny, loving, and understanding person. She really deserves a great husband. Luckily, you married her before she found one.

I'd like to ask both George &amp Julie to participate in my speech. Julie, please place one hand on the table. George, place your hand on top of Julie's.

Keep your hands in this position until the end of my speech and believe me George, you won't regret this.
I met George back in ?9 when I first moved to Scarborough during a game of basketball at his parent's house. He was athletic, good looking, out-going &amp a funny person. And I would like to emphasize “was”!

Of course, this was before we started playing. He was the biggest trash talker I had ever met! He would taunt you every time you attempted a shot. Let's just say he was a quintessential dirty player. Luckily for him, I was able to get past his personality imperfections at the time.

Now anyone who knows me knows that I like to avoid trouble. Hanging out with George made this impossible. He was a thrill seeker and loved danger.

During the first few years of knowing him:

I almost got killed trying to jump on &amp off a moving train while being chased by railway workers on our way home from school.

Another time, we got chased around our neighbourhood by a man yielding a screwdriver. We had no idea that the abandoned house we broke into was his!

And George wasn't about to stick around when we were getting chased. One time, we threw snowballs at an older teenager's car George took off when they caught me. He waited until I got beat up before sneaking back out to see if I was okay.

THANKS GEORGE!

Our friendship was pretty much traumatizing for me.

We grew closer during our time while working at CIBC. It was at this point I realized how much he had matured as an individual. He has had to endure so many challenges throughout his life, and has been able to handle everything in stride.

I respect him tremendously. I am proud to call him my best friend Look over at George.

I met Julie a couple of years ago. I was supposed to meet her during our high school prom, since she was George's date, but she never actually made it out. The reason I never met her was because she was looking after her friend who had too champagne to drink in the limo. I remember thinking to myself that George had finally found a great girlfriend that was caring &amp thoughtful and someday, could make a great wife to him. Talk about a lucky guess!

Julie, I would like to welcome you to our circle of friends.

Now traditionally as the best man, I am entitled to give some advice to the groom.

George, now that you're married, there are 3 things to remember:

1. There are 5 rings involved in a marriage: the engagement ring, wedding ring, suffering, torturing and enduring.

2. Set the ground rules and establish whose boss – then do everything Julie says

3. Always tell Julie those 3 important little words: &quotyou're right dear&quot.
Now I'll tell you why I asked George to place his hand over Julie's.
As my final role as your Best Man, I have been able to give you the last few minutes in which you will ever have the upper hand over Julie. Hope you enjoyed it because it will never happen again
Now, it gives me great pleasure and immense relief to ask you all to stand and raise your glasses:

Julie, George – “May your years ahead be filled with love, joy and laughter….and most importantly, many grand children for your parents&quot
To the new Mr. &amp Mrs. DiFalco. Salute!
