Speech by James Higgins

Speech Type: Best man
Speech Creator: James Higgins
Speech Date: Jul2007
May I start by congratulating the happy couple and to say how lovely Cheryl looks. Id also like to congratulate Gordon on a truly magnificent speech,I always knew it would be hard to follow and I was right i couldn't follow a word of it.I,m very honoured to be Gordons best man and I will do my very best to make this the most uncomfortable few minutes of his life which to be fair is what Cheryl gets when she goes to bed with him every night.Gordon and Cheryl have finally got married for better or for worse, this is quite appropriate as Gordon couldn,t have done any better and Cheryl certainly couldn,t have done any worse.

I do have to say how lucky you are Gordon as you leave here with a wife that is warm loving and caring and Cheryl..how lucky you are ..you leave with a…beautiful dress and lovely flowers.I have to say to Dan and Rita this must bring back memories as not so long ago you were putting Cheryl to bed with a dummy and it,s happening all over again.I have known Gordon all my life and hes always loved sport especially football, from a very early age it was obvious he was a natural defender, he loved to get stuck in. Its a shame he hasnt carried this over to his working life. The gaffer has started crying him God because he never sees him and if he does any work its a miracle. Before I make the toast a few words of wisdom for the years ahead.Always remember those three little words that are the key to a happy marriage..Your right Cheryl. remember married life can be compared to football. be fully committed every week and make sure you score every weekend.Change ends at half time and dont put your tackle in too hard or you might injure yourself, although Cheryl assures me that playing away from home will result in a groin injury and is the quickest way to get on the transfer list. On a serious note it is an honour to be your best man today, we have had some excellent times over the years.

Seeing you here today with Caitlin,Taylordaughters and Cheryl your mum and dad would be so happy and proud of you today. I wish you both every happiness for the future.

Could I ask you all to raise your glasses in a toast to the new Mr &amp Mrs Graham…
