Speech by Jay Roberts
You''re website was a godsend to me. I was very nervous and didn''t know where to start. I realize it''s relatively short but that''s how I wanted it.

Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman:
For those who don't know, my name is Jay and I am Jerry's older brother and I have the privilege of being the best man.
As all of you know, the essence of a successful wedding speech is one that is short and simple – so I'll do my best not to disappoint everyone.
I want to start off by congratulating the bride and groom.
You know a lot of time, effort, and style have gone into making this day so fantastic …but I think this can only be excelled by how beautiful Judy and the bridesmaids look today.
I want to extend my thanks to both sets of parents for their love and support for what has been a stressful year. I also want to thank all of the out-of-town guests who have traveled for the wedding. It's truly amazing how far people will go for a good party. Jerry and Judy are extremely lucky not only to have great families but also a fantastic group of friends. And let's face it, that's what it all boils down to- our families and friends.
In my opinion and with what little experience I have, a successful marriage depends largely on how husband and wife compliment and bring out the best in each other. And when I look at both of them, I feel that Jerry and Judy definitely do that.
I stand here today as the Best Man but Jerry- you truly are the better man, gaining the love and respect of a beautiful wife and what I consider a fantastic life. I'm extremely proud to stand here not only as your brother but as a good friend.
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I now ask you to stand and raise your glasses in a toast to the new Mr. And Mrs. Roberts:
Here's to love, laughter and happily ever after,
As Jerry and Judy start their new life,
Let's toast the new husband and wife!
