Ladies and Gentlemen if I could have your attention……..Thank you. Without further ado, it is now the time that you've all been waiting for…..… the speeches.

Please let me introduce Howard, the father of the bride
Father of the bride Speech #1

Thanks Howard, a great speech, and a tough one to follow, so I'm glad I'm not next.

I'm happy to introduce the man who is next……Marc, our groom.

Groom Speech #2

See, I told you the crowd would love you. Thanks, Marc.
Let me introduce myself for those that don't know me, my name is Matt, and for those that do already know me, my apologies.

Best Man Speech #3
What can you say about a man who came from humble beginnings and is now quickly rising to the very top of his profession based solely on intelligence, grit and the willpower to push on where others might fail?
A man who is beginning to distinguish himself amongst his peers and where none can say a bad word against him?
Well, that's enough about the me, I'm here to talk about Marc.
Please be considerate during this speech and laugh out loud at the right points and snigger where appropriate, because Marc has already told me that if I do well today..… he will definitely use me at his next wedding.
@
When Marc asked me to be his best man I was very pleased to accept until I read up on the traditional reasoning for the best man at a wedding.
Historically, a bridegroom's best man was chosen for being strong of body, healthy and a good fighter, That bit's OK, who assisted his friend when he captured his bride. Eh?
A best man's support was also needed on the wedding day to protect the bride from any rival who might try to carry her away for his own. I'm watching you lot!
When the practice of capturing brides ceased, the best man's role of supporting the groom and protecting the bride altered to the best man becoming exclusively the groom's escort while the bride was supported by her bridesmaids. And don't start me on Marc and Escorts!
So there you have it, I'm glad the role has changed, as I didn't much fancy serving 8 @10 for aiding and abetting in a kidnap plot, nor did I relish the prospect of fighting the guests, well not before I get drunk anyway!

The last time I spoke for Marc publicly, in front of a crowd, It was very similar to today, in as much as I had to explain to everyone what an upstanding chap Marc really was……….I must have done ok as in the end he was found not guilty.
I'd like to say is that Becky looks one in a million today where as Marc looks, well, won in a raffle.
Truthfully, he doesn't scrub up too bad though does he its amazing what a bar of soap and a flannel can do. I am especially flattered that he's copied my outfit for the day!
On a serious note, I'm sure you'll all agree there is much beauty and elegance around us today, particularly in Becky and her Bridesmaids Jessica, Zoe and Ellie, who have really lit up the proceedings. I would like to thank Marc on behalf of the Bridesmaids and myself for his sentiments a few moments ago.
I would also like to thank everyone on behalf of the bride and groom, for sharing their wedding day particularly those of you who have traveled long distances.
I'd like to read out some of the messages from the wedding cards.

There's too many messages to go through and I apologise if I've left yours
out, however I'll leave them out so that you can take a look at your
leisure later on.
I will keep the rest of the speech short today as I have been banned from drinking until afterwards! But mainly because of my throat.. Becky said she'd cut it if I went on too long.
When preparing this speech, I thought long and hard about which stories I could entertain you with from Marc's life, so I wrote them all down.
The problem being, knowing Marc's past, there was little I could use that would have been suitable…….So I'll leave those bits out and instead I'll tell you what I can.

I have known Marc for 10 years and in all that time have never seen him as happy as his is today……..that or he has wind.

It all began @ 3 years ago..… Becky met a good@looking, intelligent and athletic man, who was climbing the career ladder and destined for great things.
Unfortunately he emigrated to America and Becky met Marc on the rebound.

Marc phoned me just after they had met and said
“I've met this girl she's beautiful, intelligent, enjoys the outdoors..… and she likes a drink!”
Since then, they have been inseparable and real ‘soul mates’.
Some people say they have found their soul mate, I know with Marc and Becky this is completely true, never have I seen two people so completely in love and so happy and comfortable in each others company.
I am sure that despite the difficulties that life throws ones way, these two will ride roughshod over any problems and come out the other side better for it.
Finally, I'd like to say to Marc, I am extremely proud to be your best man and honored that you would want me here on this your special day.

I'm so pleased that you've found the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with, even though she might end it prematurely…..… and don't start me on premature…..!

But seriously, I have no doubt that your love will be modern enough to survive the times and old fashioned enough to last forever.

So please charge your glasses..… I would ask everyone to be upstanding…..… and join me in a toast to the happy couple and wish them all the best in their new life together – Marc and Becky.
